3. Setup

3.1 Battery Installation and Charging

1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the walkie talkie.
2. Insert the rechargeable batteries (3 x AAA type, not included) according to the polarity markings.
3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.
4. Connect the provided USB charging cable to the charging jack on the walkie talkie.
5. Connect the other end of the USB cable to a power source such as a USB wall adapter, computer USB port, or power bank.
6. The battery level indicator on the LCD will show charging status. Charge until the indicator shows full.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Power On/Off

• To power on, press and hold the Power Button until the LCD screen illuminates.
• To power off, press and hold the Power Button until the LCD screen turns off.

4.2 Adjusting Volume

• Use the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons (often integrated with Up/Down navigation) to adjust the listening volume.

4.3 Channel Selection

The T518 has 20 channels. To communicate, both walkie talkies must be on the same channel.

• Press the Menu Button to enter channel selection mode.
• Use the Up/Scan or Down/Monitor buttons to select the desired channel.
• Press the Menu Button again or wait a few seconds to confirm the selection.

4.4 Transmitting and Receiving

• To transmit, press and hold the Talk/Call (PTT) Button. Speak clearly into the microphone. The TX icon will appear on the LCD.
• To receive, release the Talk/Call (PTT) Button. The RX icon will appear on the LCD when a signal is being received.

4.5 VOX Function (Voice Operated Exchange)

The VOX function allows hands-free communication.

Obstacles such as walls and floors will reduce the communication range. The maximum range is 2 kilometers under ideal conditions.
