5. Cleaning and Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance will prolong the life of your kettle.

  • Always unplug the kettle from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  • Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the kettle with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as these can scratch the stainless steel surface.
  • Interior Cleaning (Hand Wash): The interior of the kettle should be hand washed. Do not immerse the kettle base or electrical components in water.
  • Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) may build up inside the kettle, especially in hard water areas. To descale, fill the kettle with a mixture of one part white vinegar and two parts water. Let it stand for at least 30 minutes, or boil the mixture. Discard the mixture and rinse the kettle thoroughly several times with fresh water. For stubborn deposits, repeat the process or use a commercial descaling solution following its instructions.
  • Filter Cleaning: If your kettle has a removable filter, remove it and rinse under running water. Brush gently if necessary to remove any deposits. Reinsert the filter after cleaning.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your kettle, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Kettle does not heat:
    • Ensure the kettle is properly seated on its power base.
    • Check that the power plug is securely inserted into the wall outlet.
    • Verify that the ON/OFF switch is pressed down and the indicator light is on.
    • Check your household's circuit breaker or fuse box.
  • Kettle switches off before boiling:
    • This may indicate limescale buildup. Descale the kettle as described in the 'Cleaning and Maintenance' section.
    • Ensure the lid is fully closed.
  • Water has an unusual taste or odor:
    • Perform the initial cleaning process (boiling and discarding water several times).
    • Ensure the kettle is regularly descaled.
  • Kettle leaks:
    • Ensure the lid is properly closed.
    • Do not overfill the kettle beyond the MAX level.

If the problem persists after attempting these solutions, please contact Toyomi customer support.
