3. Setup

2. Initial Power On: Press the power button (usually the single button on the device). The display will briefly show "188.8°F M" or similar, then the last measured temperature, and finally "Lo°F" (or "Lo°C") indicating it's ready for measurement.
3. Battery Check: The thermometer comes with one LR41 battery pre-installed. If a low battery indicator appears, refer to the "Battery Replacement" section.

4. Operating Instructions

Before each use, ensure the thermometer is clean. Press the power button to turn it on. Wait for the "Lo°F" (or "Lo°C") display before taking a reading.

Measurement Methods:

• Oral Measurement:

  Place the tip of the thermometer under the tongue, as close to the heat pocket as possible. Keep the mouth closed and hold the thermometer in place until the beep sounds (approximately 10 seconds). Normal oral temperature range is typically 96.3°F-99.2°F (35.7-37.3°C).

• Rectal Measurement:

  This method is often recommended for infants and young children for accuracy. Apply a water-soluble lubricant to the tip. Gently insert the tip no more than 0.5 inches into the rectum. Hold the thermometer in place until the beep sounds. Normal rectal temperature range is typically 96.3°F-99.2°F (35.7-37.3°C).

• Axillary (Underarm) Measurement:

  Place the tip of the thermometer in the armpit, ensuring it makes good contact with the skin. Hold the arm firmly against the body. Wait for the beep sound. Normal underarm temperature range is typically 95.4°F-98.6°F (35.2-37.0°C).

Additional Functions:

• Switching Temperature Units: While the thermometer is off, press and hold the power button for approximately 3-5 seconds to toggle between Fahrenheit (℉) and Celsius (℃).
• Memory Recall: When the thermometer is turned on, it will briefly display the last measured temperature before showing "Lo°F" (or "Lo°C").
• Fever Alarm: If a temperature reading exceeds 100.0°F (37.8°C), the thermometer will emit a rapid series of beeps to indicate a fever.

5. Care and Maintenance

• Cleaning: The waterproof tip allows for easy cleaning. Wipe the tip with water and clean with medical alcohol before and after each use to ensure hygiene. Do not immerse the entire thermometer in water.
• Storage: Store the thermometer in its protective storage case when not in use. Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
• Battery Replacement: When the low battery indicator (a battery icon) appears in the lower right corner of the LCD display, it's time to replace the LR41 battery. To replace, gently pull off the colored end cap to access the battery compartment. Replace with a new LR41 battery, ensuring correct polarity.
