4. Setup and Initial Use

Your Boncare Digital Thermometer comes with one LR41 battery pre-installed. To begin using your thermometer:

  1. Remove the thermometer from its protective storage case.
  2. Press the power button (ON/OFF) to turn on the device. A short beep will sound, and the display will show the last measured temperature for approximately 2 seconds.
  3. After the last reading is displayed, the screen will show 'Lo℉' (or 'Lo℃') indicating it is ready for measurement.

5. Operating Instructions

The thermometer provides accurate readings in approximately 10 seconds. Ensure the probe is clean before use.

Taking a Temperature Reading:

  1. Turn on the thermometer by pressing the power button.
  2. Place the probe according to the desired measurement method (oral, rectal, or axillary).
  3. Hold the thermometer in place until the beeper alarm sounds, indicating the measurement is complete.
  4. Read the temperature displayed on the LCD screen.
  5. Press the power button again to turn off the thermometer, or it will automatically shut off after approximately 10 minutes of inactivity.

Measurement Methods:

  • Oral Use: Place the probe tip under the tongue. Close your mouth and hold the thermometer in place. Normal oral temperature is typically 96.3℉-99.2℉ (35.7℃-37.3℃).
  • Rectal Use: This method is generally recommended for infants and young children. Gently insert the probe tip into the rectum. Normal rectal temperature is typically 96.3℉-99.2℉ (35.7℃-37.3℃).
  • Axillary (Underarm) Use: Place the probe tip in the armpit, ensuring good skin contact. Hold the arm firmly against the body. Normal underarm temperature is typically 95.4℉-98.6℉ (35.2℃-37.0℃).

Switching Temperature Units (℉/℃):

To switch between Fahrenheit (℉) and Celsius (℃), press and hold the power button for approximately 3-5 seconds while the thermometer is off. The display will change units. Release the button to select the desired unit.

Fever Alarm:

The thermometer features a fever alarm. If a temperature of 100℉ (37.8℃) or higher is detected, the thermometer will emit a series of rapid beeps to alert you.

6. Care and Maintenance

Cleaning:

The waterproof tip of the thermometer makes hygienic cleaning simple. You can wipe it with water and clean it with medical alcohol either before or after each use. Do not immerse other parts of the thermometer in water.

Battery Replacement:

The thermometer requires 1 LR41 battery. When the battery is low, a battery symbol will appear in the lower right corner of the LCD display. To replace the battery, carefully remove the battery cap and insert a new LR41 battery, ensuring correct polarity.

Storage:

Store the thermometer in its provided storage case in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

7. Troubleshooting

  • "Lo" Display: If the display shows "Lo℉" (or "Lo℃") after turning on, it indicates that the thermometer is ready for measurement and the ambient temperature is below the measurable range. This does not mean the battery is low.
  • Inaccurate Readings: Ensure the probe is clean and properly positioned for the chosen measurement method. Avoid touching the probe with hands or hot objects before measurement. If issues persist, try replacing the battery.
  • No Display/Not Turning On: Check if the battery is correctly installed or needs replacement.
