4. Setup and Installation

Before installation, ensure your bait boat's power is completely off and the battery is disconnected.

  1. Identify Connection Points: Locate the existing motor drive board or the designated connection points for the motor, battery, and receiver within your JABO 2AS or 2BS bait boat.
  2. Remove Old Board (if applicable): Carefully disconnect and remove the old drive board, noting the orientation and wiring of all connections.
  3. Connect the New Board: Connect the JABO Part 2033S drive board to the corresponding terminals for the 540 motor, 6V lead battery, and the boat's receiver/control unit. Pay close attention to polarity (+ and -) for the battery and motor connections. Incorrect polarity can cause damage.
  4. Secure the Board: Mount the drive board securely within the boat's housing to prevent movement or damage during operation. Ensure no loose wires can short circuit.
  5. Initial Test: Before fully reassembling the boat, connect the 6V lead battery and perform a brief functional test to ensure the motor responds correctly to commands.

5. Operating Instructions

Once installed, the JABO Part 2033S drive board operates in conjunction with your bait boat's existing remote control system.

  • Power On: Connect the 6V lead battery to the boat's power system. Ensure the remote control is also powered on and properly paired with the boat.
  • Motor Control: Use the throttle stick/lever on your remote control to operate the 540 motor. Forward movement will typically be achieved by pushing the stick forward, and reverse by pulling it back.
  • Power Off: Always disconnect the battery from the boat when not in use to prevent accidental discharge or damage.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Periodically inspect the drive board for dust, dirt, or corrosion. Gently clean with a soft, dry brush or compressed air. Do not use liquids.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the drive board in a dry, cool environment, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Inspection: Regularly check all connections to ensure they are secure and free from damage. Look for any signs of overheating or component discoloration on the board.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Motor does not respond.
  • Battery not connected or low charge.
  • Incorrect wiring/polarity.
  • Remote control not paired or off.
  • Damaged motor or drive board.
  • Check battery connection and charge level.
  • Verify all wiring connections, especially polarity.
  • Ensure remote control is on and paired.
  • Test motor directly if possible. If issue persists, board may be faulty.
Motor runs intermittently.
  • Loose connection.
  • Interference.
  • Overheating.
  • Check all wiring for secure connections.
  • Operate in an area free from strong radio interference.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation around the board.
Board appears damaged (e.g., burnt smell, visible scorch marks).
  • Short circuit.
  • Overvoltage/Overcurrent.
  • Incorrect wiring.
  • Immediately disconnect power. The board is likely damaged and requires replacement. Review wiring before installing a new board.
