1. Introduction

The Targus DOCK419EUZ USB-C Docking Station is designed to expand the connectivity of your USB-C enabled laptop, tablet, or smartphone. This universal dock allows you to connect external displays, USB peripherals, and a wired network connection, transforming your device into a versatile workstation. It also supports power delivery to charge your host device.

4. System Requirements

Host device with an available USB-C port (USB 3.0 or higher recommended for optimal performance).
Operating Systems: Windows, macOS, iPadOS, ChromeOS, or Samsung DEX.
External display with HDMI or VGA input.

5. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your Targus DOCK419EUZ USB-C Docking Station:

Connect the Dock to your Host Device: Plug the integrated USB-C cable from the docking station into an available USB-C port on your laptop, tablet, or smartphone.
Connect External Display(s):
- For HDMI: Connect an HDMI cable from your monitor to the HDMI port on the docking station.
- For VGA: Connect a VGA cable from your monitor to the VGA port on the docking station.
Note: The docking station supports one external display at a time (either HDMI or VGA).
Connect USB Peripherals: Plug your USB mouse, keyboard, external hard drives, USB flash drives, or other USB devices into the available USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports or the USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 port on the docking station.
Connect to Network (Optional): For a wired internet connection, connect an Ethernet cable from your router or modem to the Gigabit Ethernet port on the docking station.
Connect Power Adapter (Optional, for Power Delivery): If you wish to charge your host device through the docking station, connect your laptop's USB-C power adapter to the USB-C Power Delivery port on the docking station. The docking station will pass through up to 100W of power to your host device.

6. Operating Instructions

Once connected, your operating system should automatically detect the docking station and its connected peripherals. No additional drivers are typically required.

6.1 Display Configuration

After connecting an external monitor, you may need to configure your display settings in your operating system:

Windows: Right-click on the desktop, select 'Display settings', and arrange or extend your displays.
macOS: Go to 'System Preferences' > 'Displays' to adjust resolution and arrangement.

The docking station supports either an HDMI display at up to 4K (3840x2160) @ 30Hz or a VGA display at up to 1920x1200 @ 60Hz.

6.2 USB Peripherals

Connected USB devices will function as if directly connected to your host device. Ensure that any high-power USB devices are connected to the docking station's USB ports that provide sufficient power, especially if the dock is also receiving power via its USB-C PD port.

6.3 Network Connection

The Gigabit Ethernet port provides a stable and fast wired network connection. Your host device should automatically detect the network connection. If not, check your network settings.

6.4 Power Delivery

When a compatible USB-C power adapter is connected to the docking station's USB-C PD port, it will charge your host device. This allows you to use and charge your laptop with a single USB-C connection to the dock.

7. Maintenance

To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your docking station:

Keep the device clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.
Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the device yourself. Refer to qualified service personnel.
Ensure proper ventilation around the device during operation.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your docking station, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:

Problem	Possible Solution
No display on external monitor	Ensure the HDMI/VGA cable is securely connected to both the dock and the monitor. Verify the monitor input source is set correctly (e.g., HDMI 1, VGA). Check your host device's display settings to ensure the external display is detected and configured (extended/duplicated). Try a different HDMI/VGA cable or monitor if available. Ensure your host device's USB-C port supports video output (DisplayPort Alternate Mode).
USB devices not working	Ensure the docking station's USB-C cable is firmly connected to your host device. Try connecting the USB device to a different USB port on the dock. Connect the USB device directly to your host device to confirm it functions independently. For high-power devices, ensure the docking station is receiving power via its USB-C PD port.
No network connection	Verify the Ethernet cable is securely connected to both the dock and your router/modem. Check your host device's network settings. Ensure your router/modem is functioning correctly. Try a different Ethernet cable.
Host device not charging	Ensure your laptop's USB-C power adapter is connected to the docking station's USB-C PD port. Verify your power adapter is functioning and provides sufficient wattage (up to 100W supported by the dock). Confirm your host device supports USB-C Power Delivery.
