4. Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the alarm's functionality. Follow these steps carefully:

  1. Activate the Alarm: Switch the alarm unit ON. It will emit a single beep. Keep the mini magnetic sensor near the alarm unit for approximately 10 seconds to complete activation.
  2. Choose Placement: Before peeling the double-sided tape, identify a suitable location on your refrigerator or freezer. The alarm unit and the magnetic sensor must be placed at the same height level. Common placements include the front, side, or top of the door.
  3. Test Gap Distance: The recommended gap between the alarm unit and the magnetic sensor is:
    • Metal Surfaces: Approximately 0.7 inches (1.8 cm) apart.
    • Wood or Plastic Surfaces: Approximately 1.2 inches (3 cm) apart.

The FRIDGGI alarm will emit a low volume beep if the gap exceeds the allowed distance. Test by opening and closing the door before permanently attaching.

  4. Secure Installation: Once the optimal placement and gap are confirmed, peel the backing from the double-sided adhesive tapes and firmly press both the alarm unit and the magnetic sensor onto the clean, dry surface of your appliance.

5. Operating Instructions

The FRIDGGI alarm features a progressive alert system and multiple operating modes.

5.1 Alert Sequence

When the refrigerator or freezer door is opened, the alarm follows this sequence:

  • Initial Beep: A single low beep is emitted immediately upon opening the door.
  • 60-Second Delay: No sound for the first 59 seconds (in Quiet and Medium modes). This allows time to access items without triggering an immediate alert.
  • After 60 Seconds: A "Di Di" alert sounds for 2 seconds.
  • After 2 Minutes: A "Di Di...Di Di" alert sounds for 4 seconds.
  • After 3 Minutes: A continuous "Di Di...Di Di...Di Di" alert sounds for 60 seconds. This is the primary reminder to close the door.

5.2 Operating Modes

The FRIDGGI alarm offers four distinct operating modes, adjustable via the SET button:

  • Mode 1: Low (80 dB) - Softest alert volume.
  • Mode 2: Medium (85 dB) - Moderate alert volume.
  • Mode 3: Normal (90 dB) - Standard alert volume, includes a low volume beep every 10 seconds when the door is open for more than 60 seconds.
  • Mode 4: Loud (95 dB) - Highest alert volume, includes a low volume beep every 10 seconds and an additional 110 dB siren every 4 minutes (for 20 seconds).

To change modes: Short press the SET button located on the side of the alarm unit. The alarm will emit a number of beeps corresponding to the selected mode (e.g., 4 beeps for Loud Mode) to confirm the change.

For environments like basements or garages, it is recommended to activate Loud Mode (4 beeps confirmation) to ensure the siren is audible.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Battery Replacement

The FRIDGGI alarm uses 3 LR44 batteries, which typically last for 12 months under normal use.

Low Battery Indication: When the batteries are running low, the FRIDGGI alarm will emit continuous low beeps, signaling that replacement is necessary.

To Replace Batteries:

  1. Carefully remove the alarm unit from its mounted position.
  2. Locate the battery compartment. You may need a small screwdriver or tool to open it.
  3. Remove the old LR44 batteries and dispose of them properly according to local regulations.
  4. Insert three new LR44 batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  5. Close the battery compartment securely.
  6. Re-mount the alarm unit, ensuring the correct gap distance from the magnetic sensor.

Note: Using fresh batteries ensures optimal performance and alarm volume.
