This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and care of your Breville Barista Touch Espresso Machine. Please read all instructions thoroughly before first use and retain this manual for future reference.
The Breville Barista Touch is designed to deliver third wave specialty coffee at home, integrating a grinder to transition from whole beans to espresso in under one minute. It features a touchscreen interface for simplified operation and customization.

Setup
1. Unpacking and Placement
- Remove all packaging materials and promotional labels from your espresso machine.
- Place the machine on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface. Ensure there is adequate space around the machine for ventilation and access.
2. Water Tank and Filter Installation
- Remove the water tank from the back of the machine.
- Install the ClaroSwiss Water Filter into the filter holder inside the water tank. Submerge the filter in cold water for 5 minutes before installation.
- Fill the water tank with cold, filtered water up to the MAX line.
- Reinsert the water tank firmly into the machine.
3. Bean Hopper Installation
- Place the bean hopper onto the top of the machine, aligning it with the grinder collar.
- Rotate the hopper clockwise until it locks into position.
- Fill the hopper with fresh, whole coffee beans.
4. Initial Start-up and Priming
- Plug the power cord into a grounded outlet.
- Press the POWER button. The machine will guide you through the initial setup process on the touchscreen, including language selection and water hardness testing.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to prime the machine, which involves flushing water through the system.

Operating Instructions
1. Using the Touchscreen Interface
- The touchscreen allows you to select pre-programmed drinks like Espresso, Americano, Latte, Flat White, and Cappuccino.
- Swipe left or right to browse drink options. Tap to select.
- You can customize drink settings (coffee strength, milk texture, temperature) and save them as personalized coffees.

2. Grinding Coffee Beans
- Insert the portafilter into the grinding cradle.
- The integrated conical burr grinder will automatically dispense the correct amount of ground coffee for a single or double shot.
- Adjust the grind size using the grind size dial on the side of the machine. Finer grinds are typically for espresso.

3. Tamping the Grounds
- After grinding, use the included tamper to press the coffee grounds firmly and evenly into the portafilter.
- Use the Razor Precision Dose Trimming Tool to level the dose for consistent extraction.

4. Brewing Espresso
- Insert the portafilter into the group head and twist firmly to lock it in place.
- Place your cup(s) under the portafilter spouts.
- Select your desired espresso shot on the touchscreen. The machine will initiate low-pressure pre-infusion followed by high-pressure extraction.

5. Texturing Milk
- Fill the stainless steel milk jug with cold milk.
- Position the steam wand into the milk jug, ensuring the tip is just below the surface.
- Select your desired milk temperature and texture on the touchscreen. The auto steam wand will automatically texture the milk.
- After texturing, wipe the steam wand immediately with a damp cloth and purge briefly to clear any milk residue.

Maintenance
1. Daily Cleaning
- Drip Tray: Empty and clean the drip tray daily. It has a 'EMPTY ME' indicator when full.
- Portafilter and Filter Baskets: Rinse the portafilter and filter baskets under hot water after each use.
- Steam Wand: Always wipe the steam wand immediately after use with a damp cloth and purge briefly to prevent milk blockages.
- Group Head: Use the cleaning brush to remove any ground coffee from the group head seal and shower screen.
2. Cleaning Cycle
- The machine will prompt you when a cleaning cycle is required. Follow the on-screen instructions.
- Use the provided cleaning tablets and the blind filter basket for this process.
3. Descaling
- The machine will indicate when descaling is necessary. This process removes mineral buildup from internal components.
- Use the Breville descaling powder or solution as directed by the machine's prompts.
4. Water Filter Replacement
- Replace the ClaroSwiss Water Filter every 3 months or as prompted by the machine to maintain water quality and prevent scale buildup.
Troubleshooting
