Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your StarTech.com Desk Mount Dual Monitor Arm (ARMSLIMDUAL2USB3). This product is designed to mount two 17-inch to 32-inch VESA compatible monitors, each weighing up to 17.6 lb (8 kg), onto a single low-profile base. It offers flexible desk-clamp or grommet-hole mounting options, optimizing desk space and promoting an ergonomic workspace.

Setup and Installation

The monitor arm offers two installation methods: C-clamp or grommet mount. Choose the method that best suits your desk setup.

C-Clamp Installation

1. Attach the Base Clamp Assembly to the edge of your desk (10 mm-85 mm thickness). Ensure it is securely tightened.
2. Insert the Lower Arm into the base.
3. Connect the Upper Arm to the Lower Arm.
4. Attach the Cross Bar to the Upper Arm.
5. Secure the VESA Mounts to your monitors using the provided M4 or M5 screws and washers.
6. Slide the VESA mounted monitors onto the Cross Bar.
7. Attach the Grab Handle to the designated slot on the arm.
8. Route cables through the integrated cable management clips.

Grommet Mount Installation

1. Disassemble the C-clamp components from the base if they are pre-attached.
2. Attach the Grommet Plate and Base Plate to the bottom of the base, securing with the Grommet Screw.
3. Insert the base through an existing grommet hole in your desk.
4. Secure the base from underneath the desk using the appropriate hardware.
5. Follow steps 2-7 from the C-Clamp Installation for assembling the arm, crossbar, and attaching monitors.

Operating Instructions

The monitor arm provides a wide range of motion for optimal viewing and ergonomic comfort.

Monitor Adjustment

• Height Adjustment: Use the spring-assisted arm and the sturdy handle to adjust the monitor height up to a maximum of 23.4 inches from the desk. The toolless adjustable height range is 13 inches.
• Tilt: Each monitor can be tilted +/- 10 degrees to reduce glare and achieve a comfortable viewing angle.
• Swivel: The arm allows for +/- 90 degrees of swivel motion, enabling easy screen sharing or repositioning.
• Rotation: Rotate each display 180 degrees for portrait or landscape viewing.
• Horizontal Alignment: The sliding horizontal crossbar allows for precise alignment of your two monitors.

Integrated Connectivity

The base of the monitor arm includes convenient pass-through ports:

• 2 x USB 3.0 (USB-A 3.1 Gen 1 5Gbps) Ports: Connect your USB peripherals directly to the monitor arm, extending the ports from your PC or laptop.
• 2 x 3.5mm Audio/Mic Jacks: Easily connect headphones, speakers, or a microphone.

Ensure the USB and audio cables from the monitor arm's base are connected to the corresponding ports on your computer for these features to function.

Maintenance

• Cleaning: Wipe the surface of the monitor arm with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn marks, a slightly damp cloth with mild soap can be used, followed by drying. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
• Periodic Checks: Periodically check all screws and connections to ensure they remain tight and secure. Re-tighten if necessary.
• Cable Management: Ensure cables are neatly routed through the integrated cable management system to prevent strain or damage.

Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with the monitor arm.

• Monitors Not Level: If your monitors appear uneven, ensure they are properly seated on the VESA mounts and that the horizontal crossbar is adjusted correctly. Slight adjustments to the individual VESA mounts or the crossbar's position may be needed.
• Arm Does Not Hold Position: If the arm sags or does not stay at the desired height, the tension may need adjustment. Use the provided hex keys to adjust the articulation tension as per the instructions in the assembly guide.
• Limited Monitor Angle/Curve Alignment: For curved monitors, the maximum tilt and swivel angles of the VESA mounts might limit how closely the curves can align. Experiment with the sliding crossbar and individual monitor angles to find the best possible alignment.
• USB/Audio Ports Not Functioning: Verify that the USB and audio cables extending from the monitor arm's base are securely connected to the corresponding ports on your computer. Ensure your computer's drivers are up to date.
