1. Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the safe and efficient assembly, operation, and maintenance of your HECASA Mobility Wheelchair Carrier Hitch Mount. This carrier is designed to transport various items such as wheelchairs, scooters, lawn mowers, and other cargo, offering a robust solution for expanding your vehicle's carrying capacity.
Please read this manual thoroughly before assembly and use. Retain it for future reference. Proper assembly and adherence to safety guidelines are crucial for preventing injury and ensuring optimal performance of the carrier.
2. Safety Guidelines
- Weight Capacity: Do not exceed the carrier's maximum load capacity of 500 lbs (226.8 kg). Always verify your vehicle's hitch tongue weight capacity and never exceed it.
- Secure Cargo: Always use appropriate tie-down straps to securely fasten all cargo to the carrier. Loose cargo can shift during transit, causing instability or damage.
- Ramp Security: Ensure the loading ramp is securely locked in the upright position when the carrier is in transit.
- Even Load Distribution: Distribute the weight of your cargo evenly across the carrier platform.
- Exhaust Clearance: Ensure adequate clearance between the carrier and your vehicle's exhaust system to prevent heat damage to cargo.
- Regular Inspection: Before each use, inspect all bolts, pins, and connections to ensure they are tight and secure. Check for any signs of wear, damage, or corrosion.
- Two-Person Assembly: Due to the carrier's weight (approximately 70 lbs), a two-person assembly is recommended to prevent injury.

5. Setup and Assembly
Follow these steps carefully to assemble your HECASA Mobility Wheelchair Carrier. A second person is highly recommended for assistance.
5.1 Attaching Fixator Plates and Spring Locks
- Position the main carrier basket in a vertical upright position.
- Take one fixator plate and two 15mm bolts. Place the fixator plate on the inside of the carrier basket.
- Insert the 15mm bolts through the fixator plate and the carrier frame. Ensure the head of the bolt is on the inside of the basket.
- Secure each bolt with a washer, lock washer, and locking nut on the outside. Tighten firmly.
- Repeat steps 2-4 for the other side of the carrier. This ensures proper clearance when folding the ramp.
- Locate the two small holes on the front of the carrier (near the 'Mockins' logo if present, or similar branding area). These are for the spring locks.
- Remove one locking nut from each spring lock. Insert the spring lock through the hole, then reattach and tighten the locking nut on the other side to prevent loosening.

5.2 Connecting the Hitch Tube to the Carrier Basket
- Align the short arm (the vertical square tube) with the corresponding mounting points on the carrier basket.
- Use the 75mm bolts (with blue in-line locking nuts) to secure the short arm to the carrier basket. The holes that are widest apart will connect to the carrier basket.
- Insert the permanent bolt fixture into the hole closest to the extended tube.
- Insert the pins with safety clips into the bottom hole and the first top hole of the short arm. These pins act as a backup safety measure.
5.3 Attaching the Carrier to Your Vehicle
- Slide the assembled carrier's hitch tube into your vehicle's 2-inch hitch receiver.
- Align the hitch pin holes and insert the hitch pin.
- Secure the hitch pin with the provided lock.
- Install the anti-rattle U-bolt and plate around the hitch tube and receiver, tightening the nuts to eliminate wobble and ensure a stable connection.

6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Deploying the Loading Ramp
- Ensure the carrier is securely attached to your vehicle and the vehicle is parked on a level surface with the parking brake engaged.
- Locate the pins or latches that secure the ramp in its upright position. Release these mechanisms.
- Carefully lower the ramp until it rests on the ground, forming a stable incline.
6.2 Loading and Unloading Cargo
- With the ramp deployed, carefully roll or push your wheelchair, scooter, lawn mower, or other cargo onto the carrier platform.
- Position the cargo centrally on the platform to ensure even weight distribution.
- To unload, reverse the process, ensuring a controlled descent down the ramp.

6.3 Securing Cargo for Transport
- Once the cargo is on the platform, use the provided tie-down straps (or your own heavy-duty straps) to firmly secure the item.
- Attach the straps to sturdy points on both the cargo and the carrier frame. Ensure straps are tight and there is no slack.
- Double-check all straps and connections before driving.
6.4 Folding the Ramp for Transport
- After loading and securing your cargo, lift the ramp back into its upright position.
- Engage the pins or latches to securely lock the ramp in place. Ensure it is fully upright and stable.
- The carrier can also be folded flat against the vehicle when not in use, by rotating the hitch tube and securing it with pins.

7. Maintenance
Regular maintenance will extend the life of your HECASA Mobility Wheelchair Carrier.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect all structural components, welds, bolts, and pins for signs of wear, damage, or corrosion. Replace any damaged parts immediately.
- Cleaning: Clean the carrier regularly with mild soap and water. Rinse thoroughly and dry to prevent rust, especially after exposure to salt or harsh weather. The carrier features an anti-rust powder coating for enhanced durability.
- Lubrication: Lightly lubricate moving parts, such as hinges and pins, to ensure smooth operation.
- Storage: When not in use, store the carrier in a dry, protected area to prevent exposure to elements.
8. Troubleshooting
- Ramp Not Folding/Deploying Smoothly:
- Check that all assembly bolts (especially the fixator plate bolts) are installed with the bolt head on the inside of the basket to avoid interference.
- Ensure hinges are clean and free of debris. Apply lubricant if necessary.
- Carrier Wobbles in Hitch Receiver:
- Ensure the anti-rattle U-bolt and plate are correctly installed and tightened firmly.
- Verify the hitch pin is fully inserted and locked.
- Pins for Ramp/Folding Mechanism are Loose:
- Always use the safety clips with the pins to prevent them from dislodging during travel.
- Ensure locking nuts on spring locks are tight.
- Exceeding Load Capacity:
- Never exceed the stated 500 lbs capacity of the carrier or your vehicle's tongue weight capacity. Overloading can lead to structural failure and accidents.
