1. Important Safety Information
Read and understand this entire manual before operating the engine. Failure to follow instructions can result in serious injury or property damage. Keep this manual for future reference.
General Safety Guidelines:
- Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including ANSI standard hand and eye protection, when operating or servicing the engine.
- Ensure adequate ventilation when operating the engine to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning. Do not operate indoors.
- Keep children and pets away from the engine during operation.
- Never refuel a hot or running engine. Allow the engine to cool before adding fuel.
- Store fuel in an approved container in a well-ventilated area, away from ignition sources.
- Before initial use, ensure the engine oil reservoir is filled to the correct level. ENGINE OIL IS NOT INCLUDED AND MUST BE ADDED UPON UN-BOXING.
- Only use this engine for approved applications as described in this manual.

3. Setup and Initial Preparation
3.1 Unpacking
Carefully remove the engine from its packaging. Inspect for any shipping damage. Retain packaging materials for future transport or storage.
3.2 Adding Engine Oil
The engine is shipped without oil. It is critical to add the correct type and amount of oil before starting the engine for the first time.
- Place the engine on a level surface.
- Locate the oil fill cap/dipstick.
- Remove the cap/dipstick and slowly add recommended engine oil (e.g., SAE 10W-30) until the oil level reaches the upper mark on the dipstick. Do not overfill.
- Securely replace the oil fill cap/dipstick.
3.3 Adding Fuel
Use fresh, clean unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Ethanol content should not exceed 10% (E10).
- Ensure the engine is off and cool.
- Locate the fuel tank cap.
- Slowly remove the fuel cap.
- Fill the fuel tank carefully, avoiding spills. Do not fill above the maximum fill line or to the very top of the tank opening. The maximum capacity is approximately 0.7 gallons.
- Securely replace the fuel cap.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Starting the Engine (Recoil Start)
- Ensure the engine is properly mounted and connected to the equipment.
- Open the fuel valve (if equipped).
- Move the choke lever to the "CHOKE" or closed position (for cold starts). For warm starts, the choke may not be necessary.
- Move the throttle lever to the "FAST" or full throttle position.
- Grasp the recoil starter handle firmly. Pull slowly until resistance is felt, then pull quickly and smoothly to start the engine. Do not let the rope snap back; guide it gently.
- Once the engine starts, gradually move the choke lever to the "RUN" or open position as the engine warms up.
- Adjust the throttle to the desired operating speed.
4.2 Stopping the Engine
- Move the throttle lever to the "SLOW" or idle position.
- Move the engine switch to the "OFF" position.
- Close the fuel valve (if equipped) for storage or extended periods of non-use.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance is essential for ensuring the longevity and optimal performance of your AlphaWorks engine. Always refer to the detailed maintenance schedule in your complete user manual.
5.1 Air Filter Maintenance
Inspect the air filter regularly, especially in dusty conditions. Clean or replace as needed to prevent dirt from entering the engine.
- Remove the air filter cover.
- Remove the foam element. Wash in warm, soapy water, rinse, and allow to air dry completely. Lightly oil the foam element with engine oil and squeeze out excess.
- Replace the foam element and air filter cover.
5.2 Spark Plug Inspection and Replacement
Inspect the spark plug for wear, carbon buildup, or damage. Replace if necessary.
- Recommended Spark Plug: Torch F6RTC
- Electrode Clearance: 0.7-0.8mm
5.3 Oil Change Procedure
Change the engine oil after the first 5-10 hours of operation, and then every 50 hours or annually, whichever comes first.
- Run the engine for a few minutes to warm the oil.
- Stop the engine and place a suitable container beneath the oil drain plug.
- Remove the oil drain plug and oil fill cap/dipstick to allow the oil to drain completely.
- Replace the oil drain plug and refill with the recommended oil type and quantity (refer to Section 3.2).
