Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the safe operation of your bike lift. This section provides detailed steps. For a visual guide, please refer to the installation video below.

Tools Required (Not Included):

Installation Steps:

  1. Determine Mounting Location: Choose a location on your ceiling that provides sufficient space to lift and store your bicycle without obstruction. Ensure the ceiling is structurally sound and can support the weight. The lift is suitable for ceiling heights up to 4 meters.
  2. Mark Drill Holes: Position the two ceiling mounts on the ceiling. The distance between them should be slightly less than the length of the item you intend to lift (e.g., your bicycle). Mark the drill holes for each mount using a pencil.
  3. Drill Holes: Drill pilot holes at the marked locations. Ensure the drill bit size matches the provided anchors/screws.
  4. Attach Ceiling Mounts: Securely fasten both ceiling mounts to the ceiling using the provided screws and anchors. Ensure they are firmly attached and do not wobble.
  5. Assemble Hooks: Attach the lifting hooks to their respective pulley mechanisms. The rubber-coated hooks are designed to protect your bicycle's paintwork from scratches.
  6. Thread the Rope: This step is critical for proper operation.
    • Pass one end of the rope through the pulley on one of the lifting hooks.
    • Thread the rope up to the nearest ceiling mount, through its pulley, and then across to the second ceiling mount.
    • Pass the rope through the pulley on the second ceiling mount, then down to the second lifting hook, and through its pulley.
    • Finally, bring the rope back up to the first ceiling mount and thread it through the locking mechanism. The remaining free end of the rope will be used to operate the lift.

Note: Refer to the video for a clear demonstration of rope threading. Incorrect threading can prevent the locking mechanism from functioning correctly.

  7. Install Rope Cleat: Choose a convenient location on a wall, within easy reach, to mount the rope cleat. This will be used to secure the rope and hold the lifted item in place. Securely fasten the cleat to the wall.

Installation Video Guide

Video Description: This short video demonstrates the assembly and rope threading process for the bike lift system. It shows how to attach the hooks, thread the rope through the pulleys, and engage the locking mechanism. This visual guide is helpful for understanding the installation steps.

Operating Instructions

Once installed, the Fischer ProfiPlus Bike Lift is simple to operate:

  1. Attach Item: Position the bicycle or other item directly below the hooks. Carefully attach the hooks to the frame of the bicycle, ensuring it is balanced. The rubber coating on the hooks protects the frame.
  2. Lift Item: Pull the free end of the rope downwards to raise the item. The pulley system reduces the effort required. Guide the item as it ascends to prevent swinging or hitting obstacles.
  3. Secure Item: Once the item reaches the desired height, release the rope slowly. The automatic locking mechanism will engage, holding the item in place. For added security, wrap the rope around the wall-mounted cleat.
  4. Lower Item: To lower the item, gently pull the rope to disengage the locking mechanism. Slowly release the rope to allow the item to descend. Guide the item carefully until it is safely on the ground.

Locking mechanism does not engage.Rope incorrectly threaded, mechanism obstructed, worn mechanism.Review rope threading (refer to installation video). Clear any debris. Inspect mechanism for damage.
Rope shows signs of wear or breaks.Normal wear and tear, excessive friction, sharp edges, overloading.Replace the rope immediately with a suitable high-strength replacement. Ensure no sharp edges are contacting the rope. Do not exceed load capacity.
Mounts feel loose on the ceiling.Screws loose, improper installation, unsuitable ceiling material.Retighten all mounting screws. If problem persists, re-evaluate installation method and ceiling suitability. Consult a professional if necessary.
