3. Setup and Installation
3.1 Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
- Slide the cover off in the direction indicated by the arrow.
- Insert the two AAA batteries, ensuring the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals align correctly with the markings inside the compartment.
- Replace the battery compartment cover by sliding it back into place until it clicks securely.
Note: Ensure batteries are inserted correctly to prevent damage to the device. Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period.
3.2 Attaching the Lanyard
- Thread the thin loop end of the lanyard through the lanyard hole on the side of the oximeter.
- Pass the thicker end of the lanyard through the looped thin end and pull gently to secure.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Taking a Measurement
- Open the clamp of the oximeter.
- Insert one finger (preferably the index, middle, or ring finger) into the rubber opening of the oximeter, ensuring the finger is fully inserted and resting on the sensor.
- Release the clamp.
- Press the power button once to turn on the device.
- Keep your hand still during the measurement. Readings will appear on the display within a few seconds.
- The device will automatically power off approximately 15 seconds after removing your finger.

4.2 Understanding the Display
The OLED display shows several parameters:
- SpO2%: Blood Oxygen Saturation Level.
- PR bpm: Pulse Rate (beats per minute).
- PI%: Perfusion Index, indicating the strength of the pulsatile blood flow. A higher PI (above 0.2%) generally indicates a more reliable reading.
- Plethysmograph Waveform: A graphical representation of the pulse, indicating signal quality. A consistent waveform suggests stable blood flow.
- Battery Indicator: Shows the remaining battery life.

4.3 Setting Alarms
The device features customizable audio and visual alarms for abnormal SpO2 and Pulse Rate readings.
- With the device on, press and hold the power button to enter the menu.
- Navigate through the menu options using single presses of the power button.
- Select 'Threshold Setup' to adjust the high and low limits for SpO2 and Pulse Rate.
- Use the power button to change values. Press and hold to confirm and exit the menu.
- When a reading falls outside the set thresholds, the device will emit an audible alarm and the display will flash.

5. Maintenance and Care
5.1 Cleaning the Device
- Clean the surface of the oximeter before and after each use.
- Use a soft cloth dampened with medical alcohol (70% ethanol or isopropanol) to wipe the surface.
- Do not immerse the device in water or any cleaning solution.
- Allow the device to air dry completely before use.
5.2 Storage
- Store the oximeter in its carry case when not in use.
- Keep the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and moisture.
- If the device will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
5.3 Battery Replacement
When the battery indicator on the display shows low power, replace both AAA batteries as described in Section 3.1.
6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No display after pressing power button | Batteries are dead or incorrectly inserted. | Replace batteries or re-insert them with correct polarity. |
| SpO2 and Pulse Rate cannot be displayed normally | Finger not inserted correctly or too much movement. | Re-insert finger, ensure it is fully in the sensor. Keep hand still. |
| Display is unstable | Finger is too cold, nail polish, or strong ambient light. | Warm finger, remove nail polish, or move to a less brightly lit area. |
| Device automatically shuts down | Normal auto-shutdown function or low battery. | If no finger is detected for 15 seconds, this is normal. If during measurement, replace batteries. |
