Introduction

The Dongar Dashcam Power Adapter (16-pin Type A) provides a seamless and integrated power solution for your dashcam and other USB-powered devices in compatible Ford vehicles. This adapter is designed for a true plug-and-play installation, connecting directly to your rearview mirror's power source without requiring permanent vehicle modifications or visible wiring.

Compatibility

This Dongar Dashcam Power Adapter is specifically designed for Ford vehicles with 16-pin Type A rearview mirror connectors. It requires an auto-dimming or powered rearview mirror (e.g., a mirror with garage buttons) to function.

Compatible Dash Cams & Accessories:

• Compatible with 70Mai and other USB-powered dash cams including: Garmin Mini 2, Garmin Mini 3, Garmin X110, Garmin Live, Garmin 47, Garmin 57, Garmin 67W, Vantrue N2 Pro, Vantrue N5, Fitcam, Viofo, and all other USB-powered dash cams.
• Also compatible with other USB-powered devices such as radar detectors and GPS.
• Can be used with devices requiring a barrel jack or RJ11 connector by utilizing Dongar's USB-C to DC or USB-C to RJ11 converter cables (sold separately).

Compatibility Limitations:

• Not compatible with devices requiring 12V or those powered by a barrel jack or RJ11 connector directly (without a converter cable).
• Not compatible with digital mirrors or mirrors with built-in backup cameras.

Setup and Installation

The Dongar Dashcam Power Adapter offers a fast and easy installation process with no permanent vehicle modification. Follow these steps for a clean, hidden dashcam setup:

1. Locate the Rearview Mirror Connector: Identify the existing wiring harness connected to the back of your rearview mirror.
2. Disconnect the Original Harness: Carefully unplug the original wiring harness from the rearview mirror.
3. Connect Dongar Adapter: Plug the vehicle's original wiring harness into the female end of the Dongar adapter.
4. Connect Adapter to Mirror: Plug the male end of the Dongar adapter into the rearview mirror's port.
5. Mount the Adapter: Use the included adhesive tape to secure the adapter.
• Step 1: Each adapter comes with adhesive tape for mounting.
• Step 2: Remove the backing from the adhesive tape.
• Step 3: Place the adapter in the desired position (on the windshield or the back of your rearview mirror) and press firmly.
6. Connect Dashcam: Plug your USB-powered dashcam or other compatible device into the USB port on the Dongar adapter using the provided shorty USB-C cable or your device's cable.

Operating Instructions

The Dongar Dashcam Power Adapter provides ignition-activated power. This means the adapter will supply power to your connected dashcam or other USB-powered device only when your vehicle's ignition is ON. It is not designed for parking mode or other constant power applications.

This design ensures that your vehicle's battery is not drained when the ignition is off, providing a safe and convenient power source for your devices while driving.

Maintenance

The Dongar Dashcam Power Adapter is designed for durability and requires minimal maintenance. Keep the adapter and its connections clean and free from dust or debris. Ensure all connections remain secure. Avoid exposing the adapter to extreme temperatures or moisture beyond typical in-car conditions.

• No Power to Device:
  • Ensure your vehicle's ignition is ON. The adapter only provides power when the vehicle is running.
