5. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to set up your satellite finder:

  1. Insert Batteries: Open the battery compartment on the battery charging base and insert 6 AA batteries (not included) according to the polarity markings.
  2. Connect Power: Connect the power cable from the battery charging base to the "POWER" input on the satellite finder.
  3. Connect Antenna: Connect your satellite antenna's coaxial cable to the "ANTENNA" input on the satellite finder.
  4. Connect to Receiver/TV: If connecting to a receiver or TV, use another coaxial cable to connect the output of the satellite finder (the side labeled "POWER" or the opposite side of "ANTENNA") to your satellite receiver or TV's input.
  5. Power On: Ensure your satellite receiver or TV is powered on, as the satellite finder draws power from the connected device or its own battery pack.

6. Operating Instructions

Once set up, use the satellite finder to optimize your antenna's position:

  1. Initial Signal Check: With the device connected, the digital display will show the current signal strength. A higher number indicates a stronger signal.
  2. Adjust Antenna: Slowly adjust the direction and elevation of your satellite antenna. Observe the signal strength reading on the finder.
  3. Maximize Signal: Continue making small adjustments until the highest possible signal strength reading is achieved. The integrated compass can assist with initial directional alignment.
  4. Fine-Tuning: Once the peak signal is found, secure the antenna in place. You may need to make very minor adjustments for optimal picture quality on your TV.
  5. Disconnect: After successful installation, disconnect the satellite finder from your setup.

Note: The device is designed for ease of use, providing direct feedback without complex menus or settings.

7. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your satellite finder:

  • Cleaning: Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
  • Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Battery Care: If the device will not be used for an extended period, remove the AA batteries from the battery charging base to prevent leakage.
  • Avoid Drops: Protect the device from impacts and drops, which can damage internal components.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your satellite finder, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No signal reading / Display shows '0' or '1' constantly.
  • Incorrect connection.
  • No power to the device.
  • Antenna not pointed at a satellite.
  • Faulty cable.
  • Check all coaxial cable connections are secure.
  • Ensure batteries are correctly inserted and charged, or that the connected receiver/TV is powered on.
  • Slowly sweep the antenna across the sky to find the satellite.
  • Try a different coaxial cable.
Low signal strength reading.
  • Antenna not precisely aligned.
  • Obstruction in signal path.
  • Weak signal from satellite.
  • Fine-tune antenna direction and elevation.
  • Ensure no trees, buildings, or other objects block the line of sight to the satellite.
  • This may be normal for certain satellites or weather conditions.
Device not powering on.
  • No batteries or dead batteries.
  • Incorrect battery insertion.
  • Power cable not connected.
