5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

  1. Align the battery pack with the back of the radio.
  2. Slide the battery pack into place until it clicks securely.

5.2 Charging

The RT28 radios can be charged using the included multi-gang charger or individually via the USB charging port.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On/Off and Volume Control

Rotate the top-most knob clockwise to power on the radio. Continue rotating to increase the volume. Rotate counter-clockwise to decrease volume and power off.

6.2 Channel Selection

Rotate the second knob (channel selection knob) to choose one of the 16 available channels. Ensure all radios intended for communication are set to the same channel.

6.3 Push-to-Talk (PTT) Button

Press and hold the large PTT button on the side of the radio to transmit your voice. Release the button to listen.

6.4 VOX Function (Voice Operated Exchange)

The VOX function allows for hands-free transmission. When activated, the radio will transmit automatically when it detects your voice.

  1. To activate/deactivate VOX: From channel 1 to channel 5, press and hold the PTT and side button at the same time to turn on the walkie-talkie. The VOX function will be activated or deactivated.

6.5 Local Alarm

The local alarm function can be activated in emergencies. Refer to the full user manual for specific activation steps.
