Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance will prolong the life of your kettle.

  • Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the kettle and the power base with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish.
  • Interior Cleaning: Rinse the interior of the kettle with clean water after each use.
  • Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) may accumulate inside the kettle, especially in hard water areas. This can affect performance. To descale:
    1. Fill the kettle with a solution of 1 part white vinegar and 2 parts water.
    2. Boil the solution and then let it stand in the kettle for approximately 20 minutes.
    3. Empty the kettle and rinse it thoroughly with fresh water several times.
    4. If necessary, repeat the descaling process until all deposits are removed.
  • Ensure the kettle is completely dry before storing.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your kettle, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Kettle does not turn on:
    • Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into a functional electrical outlet.
    • Verify that the power switch on the handle is pressed down.
    • Check your household's circuit breaker if other appliances are also not working.
  • Kettle shuts off before boiling:
    • The kettle may have been overfilled or underfilled, triggering the boil-dry protection mechanism. Ensure water is between the MIN and MAX lines.
    • Mineral deposits (limescale) can interfere with the temperature sensor. Perform a descaling procedure as described in the Maintenance section.
  • Water has an unusual taste or odor:
    • For first-time use, ensure you have performed the initial cleaning steps (boil and discard water 2-3 times).
    • Regularly descale the kettle to prevent mineral buildup, which can affect water taste.
    • Ensure you are using fresh, clean water.
