Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the setup, operation, and maintenance of your Motorola Voice ML1000 Corded Base Station. The ML1000 is designed to function as the core of a 1 to 4 line phone system, featuring a digital receptionist and an integrated digital answering system. It allows for wireless connection with up to 10 ML1100 desk phones and/or ML1200 cordless handsets (sold separately) to expand your communication capabilities. Only the ML1000 base station requires a direct connection to a phone jack.

Setup
Follow these steps to set up your Motorola ML1000 Corded Base Station:
- Connect the Handset: Plug one end of the coiled handset cord into the handset and the other end into the handset jack on the left side of the base station.
- Connect the Telephone Line: Plug one end of the telephone line cord into the LINE 1 jack on the back of the base station. Plug the other end into a standard telephone wall jack. If using multiple lines, connect additional telephone lines to LINE 2, LINE 3, and LINE 4 jacks as needed.
- Connect Power: Plug the small end of the AC power adapter into the POWER jack on the back of the base station. Plug the larger end into a standard electrical outlet.
- Install Batteries (if applicable): If your unit includes backup batteries, open the battery compartment (usually on the bottom of the base station) and insert the batteries according to the polarity markings. Close the compartment.
- Initial Power On: The base station should power on automatically. The display will illuminate, and you may be prompted to set the date and time. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Expanding Your System
The ML1000 base station supports wireless connection with up to 10 additional ML1100 desk phones and/or ML1200 cordless handsets (sold separately). Refer to the individual manuals for these accessory units for pairing instructions.
Operating Instructions
This section details the primary functions and operations of your ML1000 base station.
Making and Receiving Calls
- To Make a Call: Lift the handset or press the Speaker button. Select an available line (LINE 1-4) if necessary. Dial the number.
- To Answer a Call: When the phone rings, lift the handset or press the Speaker button.
- To End a Call: Place the handset back in the cradle or press the Speaker button again.
Digital Receptionist and Auto Attendant
The ML1000 features a digital receptionist that can automatically answer incoming calls and play a pre-recorded greeting. Callers can then be directed to specific extensions or voicemail boxes based on their input.
- Enabling/Disabling: Access the main menu, navigate to "Digital Receptionist" settings, and follow the prompts to activate or deactivate this feature.
- Recording Greetings: You can record custom greetings for different scenarios. Consult the menu options for "Greetings" or "Announcements."
- Setting Up Call Routing: Configure how incoming calls are routed based on caller input (e.g., "Press 1 for Sales, Press 2 for Support").
Digital Answering System with Music on Hold
The integrated digital answering system records messages when you are unavailable. It also includes a music on hold feature.
- Activating/Deactivating: Use the "Answering System" menu option to turn the system on or off.
- Listening to Messages: Press the Play button or access the "Messages" menu.
- Music on Hold: When a caller is placed on hold, pre-selected music will play. This feature is typically configured within the "Answering System" or "Hold Settings" menu.
Full Duplex Speakerphone
The full duplex speakerphone allows for natural, two-way conversations without interruption. Press the Speaker button to activate or deactivate the speakerphone during a call.
Intercom
Use the intercom feature to communicate with other connected ML1100 desk phones or ML1200 cordless handsets within your system. Refer to the system menu for intercom dialing options, typically by selecting an extension number.

Maintenance
Proper care ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your ML1000 base station.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, slightly damp cloth to clean the exterior of the base station and handset. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Environment: Keep the unit away from excessive heat, direct sunlight, moisture, and dust. Ensure adequate ventilation.
- Cord Management: Avoid tangling or crimping the power and telephone cords to prevent damage.
