Setup and Installation

Proper measurement and installation are crucial for optimal performance and appearance of your Roman shade. Please follow these guidelines carefully.

1. Measuring for Mounting

Determine whether you will use an inside mount (within the window frame) or an outside mount (above and around the window frame).

• Inside Mount: Measure the exact width inside the window frame. For a proper fit, subtract 0.5 inches from the total width. The height should be measured from the top to the bottom inside the window frame without any deductions. A minimum depth of 3 inches is required for proper installation.
• Outside Mount: Measure the window width and add at least 3 inches total (1.5 inches per side) for better light control and privacy. Install the shade at least 3 inches above the window frame for proper coverage.

2. Step-by-Step Installation

Follow these steps to install your Roman shade:

1. Measure & Mark: Measure the desired position for your brackets. For an outside mount, measure 3 inches over your window frame. Mark the screw holes using a pencil.
2. Drill Holes: Drill pilot holes at the marked locations. If drilling into drywall without a stud, use the provided wall anchors.
3. Mount Brackets: Securely attach the mounting brackets to the wall or ceiling using the provided screws. Ensure they are firmly tightened.
4. Attach Roman Shade: For easier fitting, detach the Roman shade fabric face from the headrail. Place the headrail onto the brackets by inserting the back side of the headrail first, then pushing the front side upward until it snaps into place.
5. Reattach Fabric Face: Once the headrail is securely mounted, reattach the fabric face to the headrail using the hook and loop fastener.

Operating the Roman Shade

Your Madison Park Galen Roman Shade features a cordless retraction mechanism for smooth and easy operation.

• To Lower the Shade: Gently pull down on the bottom rail or the integrated pull handle. The shade will extend downwards and lock into place at your desired height.
• To Raise the Shade: Gently push up on the bottom rail or the integrated pull handle. The shade will retract smoothly upwards. You can stop it at any point to achieve your preferred level of light and privacy.

Maintenance

To keep your Roman shade in excellent condition, follow these care instructions:

• Spot Cleaning: For minor dust or debris, gently dust the shade or use a soft cloth for spot cleaning.
• Detachable Fabric Face: The top face fabric is detachable via hook and loop fasteners for easier cleaning. Gently shake or lightly dust the detached fabric. Note: The top face fabric is detachable but not fully removable.
• Steaming: If wrinkles occur, you may lightly steam the fabric face on a low setting.

Troubleshooting

• Shade not retracting/extending smoothly: Ensure there are no obstructions in the mechanism. Gently guide the shade up or down. If the issue persists, check if the mounting brackets are securely fastened and the headrail is properly seated.
