1. Introduction

The Mobiclinic PY-04 Finger Pulse Oximeter is a compact, non-invasive device designed for spot-checking arterial oxygen saturation (SpO2) and pulse rate (PR) in adults and pediatric patients at home or in clinical settings. It provides accurate and reliable measurements quickly and conveniently.

This device features a clear LED display, low power consumption, and an automatic shutdown function to conserve battery life. Its lightweight design makes it ideal for portable use.

2. Important Safety Information

Please read all instructions carefully before using the device. Failure to follow these instructions may result in inaccurate readings or device damage.

  • This device is intended for spot-checking only and is not for continuous monitoring.
  • Consult your physician for interpretation of SpO2 and pulse rate readings. Self-diagnosis based on readings can be dangerous.
  • Keep the device out of reach of children. Small parts may pose a choking hazard.
  • Do not use the oximeter in an MRI or CT environment.
  • Do not use the oximeter in situations where alarms are required.
  • Avoid exposing the device to direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, or moisture.
  • Do not use corrosive detergents or disinfectants to clean the device.
  • Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period.

3. Product Overview

The Mobiclinic PY-04 Finger Pulse Oximeter consists of a main unit with an LED display, a power button, and a finger chamber.

4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

The device requires three AAA batteries for operation. Follow these steps to install them:

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
  2. Slide the cover off in the direction indicated by the arrow.
  3. Insert three AAA batteries according to the polarity markings (+ and -) inside the compartment.
  4. Slide the battery cover back into place until it clicks securely.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Taking a Measurement

To obtain an accurate reading, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure the oximeter has sufficient battery power.
  2. Open the clamp of the oximeter.
  3. Insert one of your fingers (preferably the index, middle, or ring finger) into the rubber opening of the oximeter, ensuring your nail is facing upwards towards the display.
  4. Release the clamp, allowing the oximeter to gently grip your finger.
  5. Press the power button once to turn on the device.
  6. Keep your hand still and relaxed during the measurement. Movement can affect accuracy.
  7. The readings for SpO2 and pulse rate will appear on the display within a few seconds.
  8. The device will automatically shut off after 8 seconds of inactivity.

5.2 Understanding the Display

The LED display shows the following information:

  • SpO2%: Peripheral Oxygen Saturation, indicating the percentage of hemoglobin in the blood that is saturated with oxygen.
  • PR bpm: Pulse Rate, indicating your heart rate in beats per minute.
  • Plethysmograph: A waveform graph that visually represents your pulse strength.
  • Battery Indicator: Shows the current battery level.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

To ensure the longevity and hygiene of your oximeter:

  • Clean the surface of the device with a soft cloth dampened with a mild disinfectant (e.g., 70% isopropyl alcohol).
  • Wipe the finger chamber with a soft cloth or cotton swab dampened with disinfectant.
  • Do not immerse the device in water or any cleaning solution.
  • Allow the device to air dry completely before reuse.

6.2 Storage

Store the oximeter in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If not in use for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
