Setup and Installation

The SKYSEN barn door hardware kit is designed for easy installation. It is recommended to have two workers for optimal efficiency. Follow the step-by-step instructions provided below.

Pre-Installation Considerations:

  • Ensure your door panel width is up to 24 inches for the 4FT kit.
  • Verify your door panel thickness is between 1-3/8" to 1-3/4". If thinner, use the included 5mm black spacer pad. If thicker, you may need longer bolts (not included).
  • If you have a doorway trim, you may need to install an extra trim board to mount the track or remove the existing trim.
  • The track's pre-drilled holes are spaced at 16 inches, aligning with standard wall stud spacing.

Installation Steps:

  1. Step 1: Prepare the Wall. If necessary, fix a trim board onto the wall to ensure a flat and secure mounting surface, especially if you have door trim or an uneven wall.
  2. Step 2: Install the Track. Mount the barn door track to the wall using the wall spacers and leg screws. Ensure the track is level and securely fastened to wall studs. The pre-drilled holes are spaced at 16 inches.

  3. Step 3: Install Rollers and Anti-Jump Pads. Attach the barn door rollers to the top of your door panel. Also, install the anti-jump pads on the top edge of the door to prevent the door from lifting off the track.

  4. Step 4: Hang the Barn Door. Carefully lift the door panel and hang the rollers onto the installed track.
  5. Step 5: Install the Floor Guide. Position the floor guide at the bottom of the door opening to keep the door stable and prevent it from swinging out. Secure it to the floor.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance will ensure the longevity and smooth operation of your SKYSEN barn door hardware kit.

  • Cleaning: Wipe down the track and rollers periodically with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust and debris. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could damage the finish.
  • Lubrication: While the POM wheels are designed for smooth operation, a light application of silicone-based lubricant on the track can further enhance smoothness and quietness if needed. Do not use oil-based lubricants as they can attract dust.
  • Hardware Check: Periodically check all screws and bolts (especially the leg screws and roller bolts) to ensure they remain tight. Tighten any loose fasteners to prevent sagging or instability.
  • Floor Guide: Keep the floor guide clean and free of obstructions to ensure the door glides smoothly.
