1. Introduction

The TP-Link LiteWave Series Unmanaged Switches provide an easy and affordable way to expand your wired network. They are designed for ease of use and reliability. With these plug-and-play switches, you can instantly expand your network connections to multiple devices. All ports support Auto-MDI/MDIX, eliminating the need to worry about the type of Ethernet cable to use. The LS1005G is fully compatible with various network devices such as computers, printers, webcams, and IPTVs, making it suitable for networking in school dormitories, surveillance systems, homes, and small businesses.

4. Setup

The TP-Link Litewave 5 Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch is designed for simple plug-and-play installation. No software configuration is required.

1. Connect Power: Plug the provided power adapter into the power port on the switch and then into a standard electrical outlet. The power LED on the switch should illuminate.
2. Connect to Network: Connect an Ethernet cable from your router or modem to any of the five RJ45 ports on the switch. The corresponding port LED will light up, indicating a successful connection.
3. Connect Devices: Connect your network devices (e.g., computers, smart TVs, gaming consoles, network printers) to the remaining RJ45 ports on the switch using Ethernet cables. The LEDs for these connected ports will also light up, indicating active connections.

5. Operating the Switch

Once connected, the switch operates automatically. It is an unmanaged switch, meaning it requires no user configuration for basic network expansion.

LED Indicators:

• Power LED: Indicates the power status of the switch. Lit when power is supplied.
• Link/Act LEDs (per port): Indicates the connection status and activity of each port.
• Solid Green: A device is connected and operating at Gigabit (1000Mbps) speed.
• Flashing Green: Data is being transmitted or received through the port.
• Off: No device is connected or the connected device is not powered on.

Auto-Negotiation and Auto MDI/MDIX:

The LS1005G features Auto-Negotiation on all ports, which automatically detects the link speed of a connected network device (10Mbps, 100Mbps, or 1000Mbps) and intelligently adjusts for compatibility and optimal performance. Auto MDI/MDIX eliminates the need for crossover cables or uplink ports, simplifying network setup.

6. Maintenance

The TP-Link Litewave 5 Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch is a low-maintenance device due to its fanless design and robust construction.

• Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the switch. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners.
• Ventilation: Ensure the switch is placed in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating, although its fanless design minimizes heat generation.
• Firmware Updates: As an unmanaged switch, firmware updates are typically not required or available.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your TP-Link Litewave switch, try the following basic troubleshooting steps:

• No Power: If the Power LED is off, ensure the power adapter is securely connected to the switch and a working power outlet.
• No Link/Activity: If a Link/Act LED is off for a connected device, check the Ethernet cable connections at both ends. Try a different Ethernet cable or a different port on the switch. Ensure the connected device is powered on and its network adapter is functioning correctly.
• Slow Network Speed: Verify that all connected devices and cables support Gigabit Ethernet (Cat5e or higher cables are recommended for Gigabit speeds). Ensure your internet service provider (ISP) plan supports the desired speeds.
• Intermittent Connection: Check for loose cable connections. Ensure the switch is not placed near sources of strong electromagnetic interference.
