Setup Instructions

  1. Choose a Location: Select a location for your bird bath or pond that receives direct sunlight throughout the day. The fountain's performance is directly dependent on sunlight intensity.
  2. Prepare the Water Basin: Ensure your bird bath, pond, or pool has sufficient water depth to fully submerge the pump. A larger basin is recommended to prevent water from splashing out, especially with higher spray patterns.
  3. Attach a Nozzle: The package includes 6 different nozzles. Choose your desired spray pattern and firmly attach it to the pump outlet.
  4. Place the Fountain: Gently place the solar fountain pump into the water. Ensure the solar panel is facing upwards and is not obstructed by leaves, debris, or shadows.
  5. Initial Operation: The pump will automatically start working within 3 seconds once exposed to sufficient direct sunlight. If it does not start, try shaking the solar fountain vigorously or placing it into the water for 5-8 seconds before releasing it.
  6. Use the Retainer (Optional): If you wish to prevent the fountain from moving randomly within your bird bath, utilize the included retainer. This helps keep the pump centered and reduces water loss due to splashing outside the basin.

Operating Instructions

The Mademax Solar Bird Bath Fountain Pump is designed for simple, automatic operation:

  • The pump operates solely on direct sunlight. It does not store energy, so it will only function when the solar panel receives sufficient light.
  • Spray height typically ranges from 50-70cm in direct sunlight. On cloudy days or in shaded areas, the spray height will be reduced or the pump may not operate.
  • Ensure the water level is always adequate to keep the pump fully submerged and prevent it from running dry, which can damage the pump.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of your solar fountain pump:

  • Regular Cleaning: Clean the pump and solar panel regularly to prevent clogging from dirt, leaves, and debris. This ensures maximum sunlight absorption and consistent water flow.
  • Water Quality: Use the fountain in clean water. Dirty water can quickly clog the pump and reduce its lifespan.
  • Prevent Dry Running: Never allow the pump to operate without water for extended periods. This can cause irreversible damage. Always ensure the pump is fully submerged.

Troubleshooting

If your Mademax Solar Bird Bath Fountain Pump is not operating as expected, consider the following:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Fountain not spraying or weak sprayLack of direct sunlight, cloudy day, solar panel obstructed by shadow or debris.Move the fountain to an area with full, direct sunlight. Ensure the solar panel is clean and free from obstructions.
Water level too lowInsufficient water in the basin, pump not fully submerged.Add more water to the basin until the pump is completely submerged.
Pump cloggedDirt, leaves, or other debris blocking the water inlet or pump mechanism.Remove the pump from the water and thoroughly clean the water inlet, filter, and pump impeller.
Fountain moves randomly or splashes water outNo retainer used, basin too small, or high spray pattern.Use the included retainer to stabilize the fountain. Consider using a larger bird bath or a nozzle with a lower spray height.
