4. Operating (Gameplay)
4.1. Game Objective
The goal of Raccoon Tycoon is to accumulate the most Victory Points (VP) by the end of the game. Victory Points are primarily earned through collecting sets of Railroad cards, pairing Railroad cards with Town cards, and acquiring valuable Building tiles.
4.2. Player Turn Overview
On your turn, you will perform actions to manipulate the market, gain commodities, sell commodities for money, and then use that money to acquire Railroads or Buildings. The game proceeds in rounds until a specific end-game condition is met.
4.3. Commodities and Market
Commodities are the core of Astoria's economy. You can play Price & Production cards to influence the market. Playing a card from the top section (Price) will raise the price of a specific commodity, while playing a card from the bottom section (Production) allows you to acquire commodities. Commodities can then be sold for money based on their current market value, or used to purchase Town cards.

4.4. Using Money
Money is crucial for expanding your empire. It is primarily used for two key actions:
- Acquiring Railroads: Railroads are obtained through an auction process. Players bid their hidden money to win Railroad cards, which are essential for scoring points.
- Buying Buildings: Buildings provide various benefits, such as increasing commodity production or granting additional Victory Points.

4.5. Scoring Points
Victory Points are accumulated in several ways:
- Railroad Card Sets: Collecting sets of Railroad cards is a primary source of points. The more cards in a set, the higher the points scored.
- Railroad and Town Card Pairs: Pairing specific Railroad cards with Town cards can yield significant bonus points.
- Building Tiles: Many Building tiles provide immediate or end-game Victory Points.

4.6. End of Game
The game concludes when a specific number of Railroad cards have been acquired or a certain number of Building tiles have been purchased (refer to the main rulebook for exact triggers). Once the end-game condition is met, players tally their Victory Points, and the player with the highest score is declared the Raccoon Tycoon!

To ensure the longevity of your Raccoon Tycoon game, follow these maintenance guidelines:
