1. Introduction

5. Rear Panel Connections

5.1. Detailed Connections

6. Setup and Installation

6.1. Rack Mounting

The B4.2 Mediamix is designed for standard 19-inch rack mounting. Secure the unit using appropriate rack screws through the mounting ears on both sides of the front panel. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.

6.2. Power Connection

  1. Ensure the unit's power switch is in the OFF position.
  2. Connect the supplied AC power cable to the AC MAINS input on the rear panel.
  3. Plug the other end of the power cable into a suitable 230 Volt AC power outlet.

6.3. Audio Connections

  1. Input Sources: Connect your external audio sources (e.g., CD players, laptops) to the LINE 1 or LINE 2 RCA inputs on the rear panel. For microphones, use either the front panel 1/4" jack or the rear panel XLR input.
  2. Outputs: Connect the MASTER 1 and/or MASTER 2 outputs (XLR for balanced, RCA for unbalanced) to your amplifier, powered speakers, or main sound system. Use the REC output for connecting to a recording device.

6.4. Antenna Connections

  1. Screw the supplied FM antenna to the FM ANTENNA connector on the rear panel. Extend the antenna for optimal reception.
  2. Screw the supplied Bluetooth antenna to the BLUETOOTH ANTENNA connector on the rear panel.

7. Operating Instructions

7.1. Powering On/Off

Press the power button on the front panel to turn the unit ON or OFF. The POWER LED will illuminate when the unit is on.

7.2. Media Player (USB/SD)

  1. Insert a USB drive into the USB slot or an SD card into the SD card slot on the front panel.
  2. Press the SOURCE button until 'USB' or 'SD' is displayed.
  3. The unit will automatically begin playing compatible audio files.
  4. Use the SEQ buttons (Play/Pause, Next/Previous) to control playback.
  5. Press the MODE button to cycle through playback modes (e.g., repeat one, repeat all, random).

7.3. Bluetooth Operation

  1. Press the SOURCE button until 'BT' (Bluetooth) is displayed. The unit will enter pairing mode, indicated by a flashing 'BT' on the display.
  2. On your Bluetooth-enabled device (smartphone, tablet), search for available Bluetooth devices.
  3. Select 'B4.2 Mediamix' from the list to pair. Once paired, the 'BT' indicator will become solid.
  4. You can now play audio from your device through the B4.2 Mediamix.

7.4. FM Radio

  1. Press the SOURCE button until 'FM' is displayed.
  2. Use the SEQ buttons to manually tune to a station or press and hold to auto-scan for stations.
  3. Stations can be saved as presets using the remote control.

7.5. Microphone Input

  1. Connect your microphone to either the front or rear MIC input.
  2. Adjust the MIC Level knob on the front panel to achieve the desired volume.
  3. Use the MIC EQ (High/Low) knobs to adjust the tone of the microphone.

7.6. Mixer Functions

  1. Adjust the individual LEVEL knobs for Line 1, Line 2, and the media player to balance the input sources.
  2. Use the MASTER 1 and MASTER 2 Level knobs to control the overall output volume.
  3. The MASTER EQ (High/Low) allows for overall tone adjustment of the main mix.
  4. Connect headphones to the PHONES jack and adjust the CUE Volume for monitoring.

7.7. Remote Control (IRC-A)

The included remote control provides convenient access to media player and FM radio functions.

  • Media Player Transport Control: Play, Pause, Next Track, Previous Track.

9. Troubleshooting Guide

  • No Power:
    • Check if the power cable is securely connected to the unit and the power outlet.
    • Ensure the power outlet is functional.
    • Verify the power switch on the front panel is in the ON position.
  • No Sound Output:
    • Check all audio cable connections to and from the unit.
    • Ensure the correct input source is selected using the SOURCE button.
    • Verify that the MASTER Level knobs are turned up.
    • Check the volume levels on your connected amplifier or powered speakers.
    • If using a microphone, ensure its Level knob is turned up.
  • Bluetooth Not Connecting:
    • Ensure the B4.2 Mediamix is in Bluetooth mode ('BT' flashing on display).
    • Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your transmitting device.
    • Move your device closer to the B4.2 Mediamix.
    • Try unpairing and re-pairing the device.
  • USB/SD Media Not Playing:
    • Ensure the USB drive or SD card is inserted correctly.
    • Verify that the files are in a supported audio format (e.g., MP3, WAV).
    • Check if the media is corrupted or empty.
    • Ensure 'USB' or 'SD' is selected as the source.
