5. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps for proper installation of your PC components into the Zalman S5 case.

5.1. Preparing the Case

  1. Carefully remove the tempered glass side panel by unscrewing the four thumb screws. Place the panel on a soft, flat surface to prevent scratches.
  2. Remove the rear side panel by unscrewing the two thumb screws.

5.2. Motherboard Installation

  1. Install the I/O shield provided with your motherboard into the rear I/O cutout of the case.
  2. Align your motherboard with the standoffs inside the case. Ensure the standoffs match your motherboard's form factor (ATX, Micro-ATX, or Mini-ITX).
  3. Secure the motherboard using the appropriate screws from the accessory kit.

5.3. Power Supply Unit (PSU) Installation

  1. Slide the PSU into its designated compartment at the bottom rear of the case.
  2. Secure the PSU to the case using screws from the accessory kit.

5.4. Drive Installation

The case supports 2x 3.5"/2.5" combo drives and 4x 2.5" SSDs.

  1. 3.5"/2.5" Combo Drives: Locate the drive cage at the bottom of the case. Pull out the drive trays, mount your drives, and slide the trays back into the cage.
  2. 2.5" SSDs: Mount 2.5" SSDs to the dedicated SSD brackets located on the motherboard tray or behind it. Secure with screws.

5.5. Graphics Card (VGA) and Expansion Card Installation

  1. Remove the necessary PCIe slot covers from the rear of the case.
  2. Insert your graphics card or other expansion cards into the appropriate PCIe slots on your motherboard.
  3. Secure the cards with screws.

5.6. Cable Management

Utilize the cable routing cutouts and tie-down points behind the motherboard tray to manage cables effectively. This improves airflow and aesthetics.

5.7. Connecting Front Panel Cables

Connect the front panel I/O cables (USB, Audio, Power SW, Reset SW, HDD LED, Power LED) to their corresponding headers on your motherboard. Refer to your motherboard manual for exact pin layouts.

Caution:

The front panel RGB lighting requires proper power connection. Ensure the IDE power connector from your PSU is inserted correctly into the RGB controller. Failure to do so may result in the RGB not functioning.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Powering On Your System

After all components are installed and cables are connected, replace both side panels. Connect your monitor, keyboard, mouse, and power cable to the PSU. Press the Power Button on the front panel to turn on your system.

6.2. Using Front Panel Ports

The USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports on the front panel provide convenient access for connecting peripherals. The headphone and microphone jacks allow for easy audio connectivity.

6.3. Controlling RGB Lighting

The front panel RGB strip can be controlled using the dedicated RGB LED Button on the top front panel. Press the button to cycle through various lighting modes and colors.
