Setup

1. Tube Installation

  1. Carefully remove the two 6K4 vacuum tubes from their packaging.
  2. Align the pins on the bottom of each tube with the corresponding holes in the tube sockets on top of the amplifier.
  3. Gently push each tube straight down into its socket until it is firmly seated. Do not force the tubes.

2. Connecting Audio Source

  1. Using RCA cables, connect your audio source device (e.g., computer, DAC, smartphone with adapter) to either the LINE 1 or LINE 2 RCA inputs on the rear panel of the TubeHead amplifier.
  2. Ensure the left (white) and right (red) channels are connected correctly.

3. Connecting Headphones

  1. Plug your headphones into the 1/4-inch headphone output jack on the front panel.

4. Power Connection

  1. Ensure the amplifier's power switch is in the OFF position.
  2. Connect the included 12V 1A power adapter to the DC 12V input jack on the rear panel.
  3. Plug the power adapter into a standard electrical outlet.

Operating Instructions

Powering On/Off

To power on the unit, flip the power switch on the front panel to the ON position. The tubes will begin to warm up, and you may notice a soft glow. To power off, flip the switch to the OFF position.

Volume Adjustment

Rotate the large volume knob on the front panel clockwise to increase the volume and counter-clockwise to decrease it. Start with a low volume setting and gradually increase it to a comfortable listening level.

Input Selection

If you have connected multiple audio sources, use the input selector switch on the rear panel to choose between LINE 1 and LINE 2 inputs.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the amplifier. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
  • Tube Replacement: The 6K4 vacuum tubes have a finite lifespan. If you notice a significant degradation in sound quality or if a tube fails, they can be replaced. Ensure the unit is powered off and unplugged, and the tubes are cool before attempting replacement. Use only compatible 6K4 tubes.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the amplifier in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
