Product Overview

The Majestic RT 194 DAB is a compact portable radio featuring DAB/DAB+ and FM reception, an integrated rechargeable lithium battery, a 3.5mm headphone output, and an alarm clock with two alarms and three ringtones.

Setup

1. Charging the Battery

The radio features a built-in 3.7V/2000mAh rechargeable lithium battery. Before first use, fully charge the battery.

  1. Connect the supplied micro USB cable to the micro USB power input port on the side of the radio.
  2. Connect the other end of the micro USB cable to a DC 5V USB power adapter (not included).
  3. The charging indicator on the display will show the charging status. The battery is fully charged when the indicator shows full.

Note: The radio can be operated while charging.

2. Initial Power On

  1. Extend the telescopic antenna for optimal reception.
  2. Press and hold the POWER button to turn on the radio.
  3. Upon first power-on, the radio will typically enter DAB mode and perform an automatic scan for available stations.

Operating Instructions

1. Selecting Radio Mode (DAB/DAB+/FM)

Press the DAB/FM button repeatedly to switch between DAB/DAB+ and FM radio modes.

2. DAB/DAB+ Radio Operation

  1. Ensure you are in DAB mode. If not, press DAB/FM.
  2. To perform a full scan for DAB stations, press the SCAN button. The radio will search for all available DAB/DAB+ stations and store them.
  3. Use the PRESET +/- buttons (or similar navigation buttons) to browse through the list of available stations.
  4. Press the SELECT button to tune into the desired station.
  5. Press the INFO button to cycle through various information displays, such as program type, signal strength, time, date, and DLS (Dynamic Label Segment) text.

3. FM Radio Operation

  1. Ensure you are in FM mode. If not, press DAB/FM.
  2. To automatically scan for FM stations, press and hold the SCAN button. The radio will scan and stop at the next strong station.
  3. For manual tuning, briefly press the PRESET +/- buttons to fine-tune the frequency.
  4. The radio supports PLL RDS FM tuning. When an RDS station is tuned, information like station name and program type may be displayed.

4. Storing and Recalling Presets

The radio allows you to store up to 20 FM and 20 DAB stations as presets.

Storing a Preset:

  1. Tune to the desired station (DAB or FM).
  2. Press and hold the PRESET button until "Preset Store" appears on the display.
  3. Use the PRESET +/- buttons to select the desired preset number (1-20).
  4. Press SELECT to confirm and save the station.

Recalling a Preset:

  1. Briefly press the PRESET button. "Preset Recall" will appear.
  2. Use the PRESET +/- buttons to navigate to the desired preset number.
  3. Press SELECT to tune to the stored station.

5. Alarm Clock Function

The radio features two alarms with three selectable ringtones (Buzzer, FM, DAB).

  1. Press the MENU button and navigate to "Alarm Setup" using the navigation buttons. Press SELECT.
  2. Select "Alarm 1" or "Alarm 2" and press SELECT.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to set the alarm time, duration, source (Buzzer/FM/DAB), and frequency (daily, once, weekends, weekdays).
  4. Ensure the alarm is set to "On" and press SELECT to save.

Snooze Function:

When an alarm sounds, press the SNOOZE button to temporarily silence it. The alarm will sound again after a short interval.

Stopping an Alarm:

To stop an alarm completely, press the POWER button.

6. Sleep Timer Function

The sleep timer allows the radio to turn off automatically after a set period.

  1. Press the SLEEP button repeatedly to cycle through available sleep times (e.g., 15, 30, 45, 60, 90 minutes, or Off).
  2. Select your desired sleep duration. The radio will automatically turn off after this time.

7. Headphone Use

Connect 3.5mm headphones (not included) to the headphone output jack on the side of the radio for private listening. The internal speaker will be muted automatically.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible Cause / Solution
No power / Unit does not turn on.
  • Battery is discharged. Connect the radio to a DC 5V power source using the micro USB cable.
  • Power button not pressed correctly. Press and hold the POWER button.
Poor radio reception (DAB/FM).
  • Telescopic antenna not fully extended. Extend the antenna.
  • Weak signal in your area. Try repositioning the radio or antenna.
  • Interference from other electronic devices. Move the radio away from other electronics.
  • For DAB, perform a full scan to update the station list.
No sound from speaker.
  • Volume is too low. Adjust the volume knob.
  • Headphones are connected. Disconnect headphones if you want sound from the speaker.
  • Station not tuned correctly or no signal. Retune the station or check reception.
Alarm does not sound.
  • Alarm is not activated ("On"). Check alarm settings.
  • Alarm time is incorrect. Verify alarm time.
  • Volume is too low for alarm source (FM/DAB).
