3. Setup
3.1 Initial Power-On and Warning
Upon initial power-on, the unit will display the KENWOOD logo followed by a warning message regarding safe operation. You can either wait 10 seconds for the message to automatically dismiss or tap 'Agree' to proceed immediately.
3.2 Wiring and Connections
Ensure all necessary wiring is correctly connected. The unit features multiple inputs and outputs for various accessories.
- USB Ports: Two rear USB ports are available for media playback and smartphone connectivity.
- AV-IN: Audio/Video input for external sources.
- Camera Inputs: Dedicated inputs for front, rear, and side cameras.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Home Screen Navigation
The home screen provides quick access to primary functions. Swipe left or right, or use the menu button to access additional options.
- Bluetooth: Connects to your smartphone for calls and audio streaming.
- Radio: Access AM/FM tuner.
- Apple CarPlay / Android Auto: Launch smartphone integration.
- TEL: Direct access to phone functions.
- Wireless Mirroring: Display content from compatible Google phones wirelessly.
- USB Mirroring: Display content from your smartphone via USB connection.
- SiriusXM: Access satellite radio (requires additional tuner and subscription).

4.2 Audio Settings
Access the 'Audio' menu from the setup screen to fine-tune your sound experience.
- Graphic Equalizer (EQ): Adjust frequency bands to customize sound output. The 'ALL SRC' option applies settings to all audio sources. You can select presets or initialize to default settings.
- Speaker/X'over: Configure speaker types, sizes, locations (e.g., lower door area, tweeter, medium), and crossover settings.
- Position/DTA (Digital Time Alignment): Adjust the listening position to optimize sound staging for specific seating arrangements (e.g., driver-focused).
- Fader/Balance: Control the front/rear fader and left/right balance of the audio output.
- Volume Offset: Adjust individual volume levels for different audio sources (e.g., FM radio, AM radio, USB, iPod, AV-IN, Bluetooth, SiriusXM, OEM, Wireless Mirroring, USB Mirroring) to ensure consistent loudness when switching sources.
- Zone Control: Configure audio output for single or dual zones (e.g., front source, rear source, rear volume).
- Sound Effect: Enable or adjust features like Bass Boost, Loudness, Realizer, Drive Equalizer, Space Enhancer, and Stage EQ.
- Audio Memory: Save, recall, or clear your custom audio setup settings.
4.3 Camera Functions
The unit supports multiple camera inputs. Access the camera view from the home screen or through the setup menu. This allows for enhanced visibility for parking and driving safety.

4.4 Vehicle Information and Gauges
If connected to a compatible iDataLink Maestro module, the unit can display vehicle information such as tire pressure, battery voltage, and engine status. It can also show customizable gauges for various vehicle parameters.

4.5 Bluetooth Dual Phone Connection
The DMX9707S supports dual phone connection via Bluetooth, allowing two phones to be paired simultaneously for hands-free calling and music streaming.

4.6 Wireless Mirroring
Wirelessly mirror your smartphone screen to the DMX9707S display. This feature is primarily compatible with Google phones.

5. Maintenance
- Screen Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to gently wipe the touchscreen. For stubborn smudges, slightly dampen the cloth with water or a screen-safe cleaner. Avoid abrasive materials or harsh chemicals.
- General Cleaning: Keep the unit free from dust and debris. Use a soft brush or compressed air to clean around buttons and vents.
- Firmware Updates: Periodically check the Kenwood website for firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and access to new features. Follow the instructions provided with the update carefully.
- Avoid Extreme Temperatures: Do not expose the unit to prolonged direct sunlight or extreme cold, as this can affect performance and lifespan.
6. Troubleshooting
- No Power: Check the vehicle's fuse box and the unit's wiring connections. Ensure the ignition is on.
- No Sound: Verify speaker connections, amplifier status (if applicable), and audio settings (volume, fader, balance, mute). Check if 'Volume Offset' is set too low for the current source.
- Touchscreen Unresponsive: Try resetting the unit (refer to the 'Reset' button location, usually a small pinhole). If the issue persists, contact support.
- Bluetooth Connectivity Issues: Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on both the unit and your smartphone. Delete previous pairings and attempt to re-pair. Check for interference from other devices.
- CarPlay/Android Auto Not Launching: Ensure your smartphone is compatible and the correct USB cable is used (for wired connection). For wireless, verify Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are active on your phone. Try restarting both the phone and the head unit.
- Poor Radio Reception: Check antenna connection. Ensure the antenna is properly installed and not obstructed.
