3. Operating Instructions
Operating the Aroma ARC-994SB is straightforward thanks to its intuitive digital controls. Follow these steps for basic operation:
- Measure Rice: Use the provided rice measuring cup to measure the desired amount of uncooked rice. One rice measuring cup is approximately 3/4 U.S. Cup (180ml).
- Rinse Rice: Rinse the measured rice thoroughly under cold water until the water runs clear. This helps remove excess starch and ensures fluffier rice.
- Add Rice to Inner Pot: Place the rinsed rice into the non-stick inner cooking pot.
- Add Water: Fill the inner pot with water up to the water line that matches the number of rice measuring cups you added. For example, if you added 2 cups of rice, fill water to line '2'.
- Close Lid: Securely close the cooker lid.
- Select Function: Press the desired function button on the control panel (e.g., 'White Rice', 'Brown Rice', 'Oatmeal', 'Risotto', 'Steam', 'Slow Cook'). The cooker will automatically begin the cooking process.
- Automatic Keep Warm: Once cooking is complete, the cooker will beep and automatically switch to 'Keep Warm' mode, indicated by a red light.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Aroma Rice & Grain Cooker. All removable parts are BPA-free and designed for easy cleaning.
- Inner Pot & Accessories: The non-stick inner pot, steam tray, rice measuring cup, and serving spatula should be hand washed with warm, soapy water. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads that could damage the non-stick coating. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely before storing.
- Condensation Collector: Remove and empty the condensation collector after each use to prevent water buildup. Wash it with warm, soapy water, rinse, and dry.
- Cooker Body: Wipe the exterior of the cooker body with a clean, damp cloth. Do not immerse the cooker body in water or any other liquid.
- Steam Vent: Regularly check and clean the steam vent on the lid to ensure it is free from any food particles or blockages.
Note: Always unplug the cooker and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues with your Aroma Rice & Grain Cooker, refer to the common troubleshooting tips below:
- Rice is Too Dry/Hard: This often indicates insufficient water. Ensure you are using the correct water-to-rice ratio as indicated by the inner pot's water lines. You may add a small amount of additional water and run the cooking cycle again if needed.
- Rice is Too Sticky/Mushy: This usually means too much water was used. Reduce the amount of water slightly in future cooking cycles. Ensure rice is properly rinsed to remove excess starch.
- Rice Boils Over: This can occur if too much water is used, or if the steam vent is blocked. Verify the correct water-to-rice ratio and ensure the steam vent on the lid is clear and unobstructed.
- Cooker Does Not Turn On: Check if the power cord is securely plugged into both the cooker and a working electrical outlet. Ensure the power button is pressed.
- Food Not Cooking Evenly: Ensure the inner pot is properly seated in the cooker. For grains, ensure they are spread evenly in the pot before starting the cooking cycle.
