Introduction

This manual provides instructions for the Fisher-Price Thomas & Friends Kevin motorized toy crane vehicle. Kevin is a friendly mobile crane designed for preschool children aged 3 years and older. This battery-powered toy is compatible with all TrackMaster tracks (sold separately) and features plastic connectors to attach to other TrackMaster engines or cargo cars.

Safety Information

• Age Recommendation: This toy is suitable for children aged 3 years and older.
• Battery Safety:
  • Requires 2 AAA batteries (not included).
  • Do not mix old and new batteries.
  • Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries.
  • Insert batteries with correct polarity (+ and -).
  • Remove exhausted batteries from the toy.
  • Remove batteries if the toy is not used for a long period.
  • Do not short-circuit the supply terminals.
  • Non-rechargeable batteries are not to be recharged.
  • Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult supervision.
  • Rechargeable batteries are to be removed from the toy before being charged.
• Choking Hazard: Small parts may be generated. Not for children under 3 years.

Setup

Battery Installation

Kevin requires 2 AAA batteries (not included) for operation.

1. Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the Kevin vehicle.
2. Using a small Phillips head screwdriver, unscrew the battery compartment cover.
3. Insert 2 new AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -) as indicated inside the compartment.
4. Replace the battery compartment cover and secure it with the screw.

Assembly

1. Remove Kevin, the cargo car, and the cargo piece from the packaging.
2. Place the silver cargo piece into the red cargo car.
3. Attach the cargo car to the back of Kevin using the plastic connectors. Ensure the connectors are securely linked.

Operating Instructions

Follow these steps to operate your Kevin motorized toy crane vehicle:

1. Ensure batteries are correctly installed in Kevin.
2. Place Kevin and the attached cargo car onto any Thomas & Friends TrackMaster track (track sold separately).
3. Locate the switch on top of the Kevin vehicle.
4. Flip the switch to the "ON" position to activate the motor. Kevin will begin to race along the track.
5. To stop Kevin, flip the switch to the "OFF" position.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity of your Kevin toy, follow these simple maintenance guidelines:

• Cleaning: Wipe the toy with a damp cloth to remove dust and dirt. Do not immerse the toy in water. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
• Storage: Store the toy in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use.
• Battery Care: Remove batteries if the toy will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.

Troubleshooting

If your Kevin toy is not functioning as expected, refer to the following common issues and solutions:

• Toy does not move:
  • Check if the ON/OFF switch is in the "ON" position.
  • Verify that the batteries are correctly installed with the proper polarity.
  • Replace old or depleted batteries with new AAA batteries.
  • Ensure there are no obstructions preventing the wheels from turning.
• Toy moves slowly or inconsistently:
  • Batteries may be low. Replace them with new AAA batteries.
  • Ensure the track surface is clean and free of debris.
• Cargo car detaches:
  • Ensure the plastic connectors are firmly attached between Kevin and the cargo car.
