Important Notes Before Installation

  • Hardware Only: This kit includes hardware only. Doors are not included and must be purchased separately.
  • Door Thickness: Doors cannot be thicker than 1-3/4 inches (4.45 cm) for proper functionality with this kit.
  • Door Width Calculation: Due to door overlap in a bypass system, each door's width should be 6 inches (15.24 cm) wider than half of the opening width to ensure the opening can be fully covered when closed.
  • Track Length Calculation: A general guideline for track length is: Opening Width + 1FT (30.48 cm).
  • Ceiling Clearance: This upgraded design requires only 6 inches (15.24 cm) of ceiling space from the top of the door to the ceiling, making it suitable for smaller spaces.

Setup and Installation

Follow these steps for a successful installation. It is recommended to have a second person assist during certain stages.

1. Prepare the Wall and Track

Ensure your wall is structurally sound. Locate wall studs for secure mounting. If studs do not align with pre-drilled holes, consider installing a header board (not included) to provide a solid mounting surface across the entire track length.

2. Assemble and Mount the Track

Connect the rail sections using the junction plate. Install the track onto the wall using spacers and lag bolts, ensuring it is perfectly level. The track is pre-drilled with 16-inch (40.64 cm) hole spacing.

3. Attach Rollers and Anti-Jump Pads to Doors

Drill holes on your barn doors and securely attach the rollers and anti-jump pads. The rollers feature high-purity Gcr15 steel bearings for smooth operation.

4. Hang the Doors and Install Door Stoppers

Carefully hang both the inside and outside doors onto the track. Adjust the door stoppers to your desired open and closed positions, then tighten them securely. The rubber-covered door stoppers provide a good buffer effect and reduce noise.

5. Install Floor Guides

Position the floor guides according to your door's opening and closing paths. These guides prevent the doors from swinging outwards and maintain alignment.

Operating Instructions

To operate your barn doors, simply grasp the door handle and slide the door along the track. The nylon-covered wheels and high-purity Gcr15 steel bearings ensure a smooth and quiet sliding motion. The bypass design allows one door to slide in front of the other, providing flexible access to your opening.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Regularly wipe down the carbon steel track with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and debris. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could damage the electrostatic sprayed finish.
  • Roller Inspection: Periodically check the nylon-covered wheels and bearings for any signs of wear or accumulation of dirt. Clean as needed to maintain smooth operation.
  • Fastener Check: Ensure all screws and bolts, especially those securing the track and rollers, remain tight. Re-tighten if necessary to prevent loosening over time.
  • Floor Guides: Keep the floor guides clear of obstructions and ensure they are securely fastened to the floor.

Troubleshooting

  • Doors Not Sliding Smoothly:
    • Check the track for any obstructions or debris.
    • Ensure the rollers are clean and free from accumulated dirt.
    • Verify that the track is level. An unlevel track can cause uneven sliding.
  • Doors Leaning or Bumping:
    • Ensure floor guides are properly installed and adjusted to prevent the doors from swinging.
    • For the front door leaning towards the inner door, consider installing an additional floor-mounted door stopper or guide to maintain proper spacing and prevent contact.
  • Hangers Not Sliding Properly:
    • Confirm that the hangers are installed in the correct orientation as per the installation manual. Incorrect direction can impede proper sliding.
