This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and effective use of your Panasonic Lumix DC-FZ80D / DC-FZ85D Digital Camera. 1. Setup
1.1 Unpacking and Checking Contents

1.2 Attaching the Shoulder Strap
Attach the shoulder strap to the camera's strap lugs on both sides. Ensure it is securely fastened to prevent accidental drops.
1.3 Inserting and Charging the Battery
- Open the battery/memory card cover located on the bottom of the camera.
- Insert the DMW-BMB9 battery with the contacts facing the correct direction, pushing it until it locks into place.
- Close the battery/memory card cover.
- Connect the camera to the AC adapter using the USB cable. Plug the AC adapter into a power outlet. The charging indicator will illuminate.
- Charging is complete when the indicator light turns off. A full charge typically takes approximately 2.5 hours.
1.4 Inserting a Memory Card
The camera supports SDXC memory cards. A 64GB High Speed UHS-I SDXC U3 Memory Card is included with this bundle.
- Open the battery/memory card cover.
- Insert the memory card into the slot with the label facing the front of the camera, pushing it gently until it clicks into place.
- Close the battery/memory card cover.

2. Operating the Camera
2.1 Power On/Off
Press the [ON/OFF] button located on the top of the camera to turn it on or off.
2.2 Basic Photography
Shooting Modes
Rotate the mode dial on the top of the camera to select your desired shooting mode:
- Intelligent Auto (iA): Camera automatically optimizes settings for the scene.
- Program AE (P): Camera sets aperture and shutter speed, but you can adjust other settings.
- Aperture Priority AE (A): You set the aperture, camera sets shutter speed.
- Shutter Priority AE (S): You set the shutter speed, camera sets aperture.
- Manual Exposure (M): You control both aperture and shutter speed.
- Scene Guide (SCN): Select from various preset scene modes (e.g., Portrait, Landscape, Sports).
Focusing and Zoom

Taking a Picture
- Frame your shot using the electronic viewfinder or the LCD screen.
- Half-press the shutter button to focus. The focus frame will turn green when focus is achieved.
- Fully press the shutter button to take the picture.
Flash Usage
