5. Safety Instructions

To ensure safe operation and prevent damage, please observe the following safety precautions:

  • Ensure the input voltage (DC12-24V) matches the power supply specifications. Using an incorrect voltage can damage the device.
  • Do not exceed the maximum total output current of 20A. Overloading can lead to overheating and malfunction.
  • Keep the device away from water, moisture, and high humidity.
  • Do not expose the device to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures.
  • Ensure proper ventilation around the controller to prevent overheating.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the device. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
  • Disconnect power before making any connections or disconnections.

6. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your MAGT LED Time Controller:

  1. Install Software: Insert the included software CD into your computer and install the programming software. If you do not have a CD drive, check the manufacturer's website for software downloads.
  2. Connect Power: Connect a DC12-24V power supply to the 'Power Input' port on the controller. Ensure the polarity is correct (positive to V+, negative to V-).
  3. Connect LED Strips: Connect your LED strips or lighting fixtures to the output channels (CH1-CH5) and the positive voltage output (V+) terminals. Each channel (CH1-CH5) is a negative pole output, while V+ is the common positive pole. For higher power loads, you may use the additional V+ and V- terminals if available, but typically one set of V+/V- is sufficient.
  4. Connect to PC: Use the provided USB cable to connect the controller's USB port to your computer. This connection is used for programming the controller.

7. Operating Instructions

The MAGT LED Time Controller is primarily programmed via PC software. Once programmed, it operates automatically.

7.1. PC Programming

  1. Connect the controller to your PC using the USB cable.
  2. Launch the installed programming software.
  3. Within the software, you can:
    • Set specific on/off times for each channel.
    • Adjust brightness levels for different time periods.
    • Select colors or color changing modes for RGB/RGBW LEDs.
    • Configure fade-in/fade-out effects and speed.
  4. Once your desired program is created, download it to the controller via the software interface.
  5. Disconnect the USB cable. The controller will now operate according to the uploaded program.

7.2. Manual Operation (Basic)

The controller features a small LED screen and four buttons for basic interaction:

  • Menu: Accesses the main menu or navigates back.
  • Enter: Confirms selections or enters sub-menus.
  • Up: Navigates up through options or increases values.
  • Down: Navigates down through options or decreases values.

While most advanced programming is done via PC, these buttons allow for minor adjustments or checking current status directly on the device.

7.3. Reset Function

A 'Reset' button is located on the side of the controller. Pressing this button will reset the device, typically clearing current settings and returning it to a default state. Use this function with caution, as it will erase any stored programs.

8. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your LED Time Controller:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the surface of the controller. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the ventilation slots are not blocked to allow for proper heat dissipation.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the controller in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Cable Management: Ensure all cables are securely connected and not under strain. Avoid sharp bends in the cables.

9. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your MAGT LED Time Controller, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • No Power/Display Off:
    • Check if the power supply is correctly connected and providing the specified DC12-24V.
    • Ensure the power outlet is functional.
    • Verify the power supply itself is working.
  • LEDs Not Responding/Incorrect Output:
    • Check all wiring connections between the controller, LED strips, and power supply for correct polarity and secure fit.
    • Ensure the total current draw of your LEDs does not exceed the 20A maximum output of the controller.
    • Verify that the program uploaded to the controller is correct and matches your desired output. Re-upload the program if necessary.
    • Confirm that the LED strips themselves are functional.
  • Software Not Connecting to Controller:
    • Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the controller and the PC.
    • Check if the correct USB drivers are installed on your computer. Reinstall the software/drivers from the CD or manufacturer's website.
    • Try a different USB port on your computer.
    • Restart both the computer and the controller.
  • Controller Overheating:
    • Ensure adequate ventilation around the device.
    • Reduce the load on the controller if it's consistently running at or near its maximum current capacity.
