4. Setup
4.1. Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the data logger.
- Open the battery compartment cover.
- Insert two 1.5V AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.

4.2. Software Installation
- Insert the provided CD into your computer's CD-ROM drive.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to install the HUATO data logger software.
- If your computer does not have a CD-ROM drive, please visit the official HUATO website to download the latest software version.
4.3. Connecting to PC
- Connect one end of the USB cable to the data logger's USB port.
- Connect the other end of the USB cable to an available USB port on your computer.
- The computer should automatically detect the device. If prompted, install any necessary drivers (usually included with the software).
5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Device Overview
The front panel of the S100 features an LCD display and two control buttons:
- MAX/MIN Button: Press to cycle through maximum, minimum, and current readings for temperature and humidity.
- LOG/STD Button: Used to start/stop logging and for standard display modes.

5.2. Starting Data Logging
Before starting, ensure the device is configured with the desired logging interval and alarm settings via the PC software.
- With the device powered on, press and hold the LOG/STD button for approximately 3 seconds until the 'LOG' indicator appears on the LCD, confirming logging has started.
- The device will now record temperature and humidity data at the preset interval.
5.3. Stopping Data Logging
- To stop logging, press and hold the LOG/STD button again for approximately 3 seconds until the 'LOG' indicator disappears.
- Data logging will cease, and the recorded data can now be downloaded.
5.4. Viewing Max/Min Readings
- Press the MAX/MIN button briefly to display the maximum recorded temperature.
- Press the MAX/MIN button again to display the minimum recorded temperature.
- Continue pressing to cycle through maximum humidity, minimum humidity, and return to current readings.
5.5. Data Transfer and Analysis
- Connect the data logger to your PC using the USB cable.
- Launch the HUATO data logger software.
- Within the software, select the option to download data from the device.
- The software will retrieve the logged data, which can then be viewed, graphed, analyzed, and exported in various formats (e.g., Excel, PDF).
6. Maintenance
6.1. Battery Replacement
When the battery indicator on the LCD shows low power, replace the batteries promptly to ensure continuous operation and data integrity. Follow the battery installation steps outlined in Section 4.1.
6.2. Cleaning
Clean the exterior of the data logger with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or immerse the device in water. Ensure the sensor vents are clear of dust and debris.
6.3. Storage
When not in use for extended periods, remove the batteries and store the data logger in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
7. Troubleshooting
- Device not turning on: Check battery installation and ensure batteries are fresh.
- No data logging: Verify that logging was initiated by pressing the LOG/STD button. Check software settings for logging interval.
- Device not recognized by PC: Ensure USB cable is securely connected. Reinstall software drivers if necessary. Try a different USB port.
- Inaccurate readings: Ensure the sensor vents are not obstructed. Allow the device to stabilize in the environment for a few minutes before taking critical readings.
