Model: 44592130719903 | Brand: Newentor

1. Product Overview

The Newentor Wireless Remote Sensor is designed to accurately measure and transmit temperature and humidity data to compatible Newentor weather stations. This sensor is an essential accessory for monitoring environmental conditions in various indoor and outdoor locations, ensuring optimal comfort and preservation.

Newentor Wireless Remote Sensor

Figure 1: Newentor Wireless Remote Sensor. This image shows the compact, white wireless sensor with a digital display indicating temperature and humidity. The Newentor brand name is visible below the display.

Key Features:

  • Remote sensor with a transmission range of up to 200ft/60m in open air.
  • Features 3 available channels for connecting multiple sensors to a single main unit.
  • Displays temperature in either Celsius (°C) or Fahrenheit (°F) and humidity in percentage (%RH).
  • Designed for versatile placement with both wall mount and table stand options.
  • Powered by 2 x AA batteries (not included).

2. Setup

2.1. Battery Installation

The sensor requires 2 x AA batteries for operation. Ensure correct polarity when inserting the batteries.

  1. Open the battery compartment cover located on the back of the sensor.
  2. Insert 2 new AA batteries, observing the positive (+) and negative (-) markings.
  3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

2.2. Pairing with Main Unit

This sensor is compatible with Newentor weather stations (e.g., ASINs: B0836CM7KY, B085R9KBN1, B089JY7XBB). Follow these steps to connect the sensor to your main unit:

  1. Ensure both the main unit and the remote sensor are powered on.
  2. Set the desired channel on the remote sensor using the "Channels Switch" inside the battery compartment. You can connect up to 3 remote sensors, ensuring each is on a different channel (1, 2, or 3).
  3. On your main unit, initiate the search for an outdoor signal (refer to your main unit's manual for specific instructions, often by pressing and holding a "DOWN" or "SEARCH" button).
  4. Simultaneously, press the "TX" button on the remote sensor (located inside the battery compartment). The sensor's signal LED will flash.
  5. The main unit should now receive data from the sensor. If connection fails, repeat the steps, ensuring the sensor and main unit are within range and on the correct channel.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1. Temperature and Humidity Display

The sensor's display shows the current temperature and humidity. You can switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F) using the dedicated switch inside the battery compartment.

3.2. Placement Guidelines

Proper placement of the sensor is crucial for accurate readings and optimal transmission. Consider the following:

  • Outdoor Placement: Mount the sensor vertically on a North-facing wall or in a well-shaded location to avoid direct sunlight and rain. Direct sunlight can cause temperature readings to be inaccurately high. Recommended placement is approximately 6 inches below eaves or under a deck rail.
  • Indoor Placement: The sensor can be placed on a tabletop or mounted on a wall in areas like kitchens, wine cellars, or other rooms where temperature and humidity monitoring is desired.
  • Transmission Range: The maximum transmission range to the base station is 328 ft (100m) in open air. Walls, floors, and other obstructions will reduce this range. Position the sensor within effective range of your main unit.

4. Maintenance

4.1. Battery Replacement

When the battery indicator on the sensor or main unit shows low power, replace the batteries promptly to ensure continuous and accurate readings. Follow the battery installation steps in Section 2.1.

4.2. Cleaning

Wipe the sensor's exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the unit in water. Ensure the sensor is completely dry before re-installing batteries or placing it outdoors.

5. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible Cause / Solution
No signal or incorrect readings on main unit.
  • Batteries: Ensure batteries are correctly installed and not depleted. Replace if necessary.
  • Channel Mismatch: Verify that the sensor's channel setting matches the channel selected on the main unit.
  • Pairing: Re-initiate the pairing process (press "TX" on sensor and search on main unit).
  • Distance/Obstructions: Move the sensor closer to the main unit or remove obstructions (thick walls, metal objects) that may interfere with the wireless signal.
Temperature/Humidity readings appear inaccurate.
  • Direct Sunlight/Heat Source: Ensure the sensor is not exposed to direct sunlight or placed near heat sources (e.g., vents, appliances) that can skew readings.
  • Moisture: Protect the sensor from direct rain or excessive moisture. While designed for outdoor use, extreme conditions can affect performance.
  • Ventilation: Ensure adequate airflow around the sensor.
