1. Introduction

The PURIVITA Universal Descaler is designed for effective and gentle removal of limescale from various household appliances. This product is suitable for use with fully automatic coffee machines, pod coffee machines, espresso machines, kettles, irons, shower heads, and faucets. Safety Information

• Keep out of reach of children.
• Causes skin irritation. Causes serious eye irritation.
• Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/face protection.
• IF ON SKIN: Wash with plenty of water.
• IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing.
• If eye irritation persists: Get medical advice/attention.
• Contains organic acids (Amidosulfonic acid, Citric acid) and inorganic acids.

Dilution Instructions

The PURIVITA Universal Descaler is a concentrate. For most applications, dilute the descaler with water according to the following ratio:

• Mixing Ratio: 1 part descaler to 6 parts water.
• Example: Use 125 ml of descaler with 500 ml of water.

Prepare the solution in a separate container if your appliance does not have a dedicated descaling tank.

3. Operating Instructions

Follow these general steps for descaling, adapting them to your specific appliance's instructions.

3.1. Coffee Machines (Fully Automatic, Pod, Espresso)

1. Prepare the descaling solution according to the dilution instructions (125 ml descaler with 500 ml water).
2. Pour the prepared solution into the water tank of your coffee machine.
3. Start the descaling program on your machine. If your machine does not have a specific program, run 1-2 brewing cycles without coffee.
4. After the descaling cycle, rinse the water tank thoroughly and run 2-3 cycles with clean water to remove any descaler residue.
5. Your machine is now descaled and ready for use.

3.2. Kettles and Hot Water Appliances

1. Prepare the descaling solution according to the dilution instructions.
2. Pour the solution into the kettle or hot water appliance, ensuring the limescale deposits are covered.
3. Heat the solution in the appliance (do not boil). For kettles, bring to a boil briefly and then switch off.
4. Allow the solution to act for 10-15 minutes. For heavy limescale, extend the soaking time.
5. Empty the appliance and rinse thoroughly with clean water multiple times.

3.3. Irons, Shower Heads, and Faucets

• Irons: Follow your iron's manufacturer instructions for descaling. Use the diluted PURIVITA descaler solution as recommended. Always rinse thoroughly with clean water after descaling.
• Shower Heads/Faucets: Prepare the descaling solution. Detach the shower head or faucet aerator if possible. Soak the affected parts in the solution for 10-15 minutes. For fixed parts, apply the solution with a cloth. Scrub gently to remove loosened limescale. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.

4. Maintenance and Care

Regular descaling is crucial for the longevity and efficiency of your appliances. The frequency of descaling depends on the hardness of your water and how often you use the appliance. A general recommendation is to descale every 1-3 months.

Color Indicator Function

The PURIVITA Universal Descaler features a color indicator to help you determine its effectiveness. The liquid is initially red. As the descaler works and neutralizes limescale, its color will change towards yellow. Once the liquid turns yellow, the descaling effect is exhausted, and the solution should be discarded.

Storage

Store the descaler in its original container, tightly closed, in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ensure it is stored out of reach of children and pets.

5. Troubleshooting

• Descaler liquid remains red after use: This may indicate that the limescale deposits were minimal, or the descaling process was too short. You can reuse the solution if it is still red, or repeat the process if necessary.
• Descaler liquid turns yellow quickly: This suggests heavy limescale buildup, and the descaler's capacity was used up rapidly. You may need to repeat the descaling process with a fresh solution for optimal results.
• Limescale not fully removed: Ensure the correct dilution ratio was used. For very stubborn deposits, you may need to increase the concentration slightly (e.g., 1:5 instead of 1:6, but always test on an inconspicuous area first) or extend the soaking time. Always rinse thoroughly afterward.
• Unusual odor or residue after descaling: This usually means the appliance was not rinsed sufficiently. Run additional cycles with clean water until all residue and odors are gone.
