5. Setup

5.1. Battery Installation

1. Ensure the tool is switched off.
2. Align the battery pack with the battery port on the tool.
3. Slide the battery pack into the port until it clicks securely into place.
4. To remove, press the battery release button and slide the battery out.

5.2. Attaching the Side Handle and Depth Gauge

1. Loosen the side handle clamp by rotating it counter-clockwise.
2. Slide the handle onto the front collar of the drill.
3. Insert the metal depth gauge into the hole on the side handle.
4. Adjust the handle and depth gauge to your desired position and tighten the clamp by rotating it clockwise.

5.3. Installing SDS Plus Drill Bits/Chisels

1. Clean the shank of the drill bit/chisel.
2. Pull back the chuck collar on the tool.
3. Insert the SDS Plus bit into the chuck until it locks into place.
4. Release the chuck collar. Pull on the bit to ensure it is securely seated. A slight axial play is normal for SDS Plus systems.
5. To remove, pull back the chuck collar and pull the bit out.

6.1. Selecting Operating Mode

The ERH18-Li features a 4-in-1 mode selector for various applications:

• Rotary Drill Mode (Drill Icon): For drilling in wood, metal, and plastics without hammer action.
• Rotary Hammer Drill Mode (Drill + Hammer Icon): For drilling in concrete, masonry, and stone with hammer action.
• Hammer Mode (Hammer Icon): For chiseling and demolition work without rotation.
• Chisel Rotation Mode (Chisel + Arrow Icon): Allows for adjusting the chisel angle for optimal working position.

To change modes, rotate the mode selector switch to the desired icon. Ensure the switch clicks firmly into place.

6.2. Using the Depth Gauge

The adjustable depth stop rule allows for precise drilling depth:

1. Insert the drill bit into the chuck.
2. Place the tip of the drill bit against the surface to be drilled.
3. Slide the depth gauge through the side handle until its end touches the surface.
4. Pull the drill bit back by the desired drilling depth.
5. Tighten the side handle clamp to secure the depth gauge.
6. Drill until the end of the depth gauge touches the surface.
