5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Taking a Measurement

Follow these steps for an accurate blood pressure measurement:

Four-step guide on how to use the blood pressure monitor

Image: A visual guide demonstrating four steps for taking a blood pressure measurement: 1) Tying the cuff on the upper left arm with palms facing up, 2) Ensuring 1-2 fingers can fit between the cuff and arm, 3) Positioning the cuff edge 2-3 cm above the elbow, and 4) Pressing the button to start the measurement.

  1. Prepare for Measurement: Sit comfortably with your back supported and feet flat on the floor. Rest your arm on a table so the cuff is at heart level. Remain still and silent during the measurement.
  2. Apply the Cuff: Wrap the cuff around your bare upper left arm, approximately 2-3 cm above your elbow. Ensure the air tube runs down the center of your arm. The cuff should be snug but not too tight; you should be able to insert one or two fingers between the cuff and your arm.
  3. Select User: Press the 'User' key (usually indicated by a person icon) to select User 1 or User 2.
  4. Start Measurement: Press the 'Start/Pause' key. The cuff will automatically inflate. Remain still and do not talk.
  5. Read Results: Once the measurement is complete, your systolic pressure, diastolic pressure, and pulse rate will be displayed on the screen. The result will be automatically stored under the selected user profile.

5.2 Memory Functions

The monitor stores up to 99 readings for each of two users, totaling 198 records. It also calculates the average of the last 3 readings.

  • Viewing Stored Readings: With the monitor off, press the 'Memory' key (usually indicated by an 'M' icon). The most recent reading will be displayed first. Press the 'Memory' key repeatedly to scroll through older readings.
  • Viewing Average Readings: The monitor automatically displays the average of the last three readings when you access the memory.

  1. Download the MyHeartPal app from the App Store or Google Play.
  2. After taking a measurement with your monitor, open the MyHeartPal app.
  3. Locate the 'Log' or 'Add Reading' option within the app.
  4. Manually input your systolic pressure, diastolic pressure, and pulse rate from the monitor's display into the app.
  5. The app allows you to view trends, graphs, and share reports with family or doctors. You can also sync data with Apple Health.
