3. Setup

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
  2. Clean: Wash the bean container, its lid, the ground coffee collection container, and the portafilter holders with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely. The main unit should be wiped with a damp cloth.
  3. Assemble:
    • Place the ground coffee collection container into its designated slot on the main unit. Ensure it clicks securely into place. (Note: Some models may have a protective blue plastic covering on the magnet for the collection container; remove this if present.)
    • Place the bean container onto the top of the main unit. Rotate it clockwise until it locks securely into position. A safety mechanism prevents operation if the bean container is not correctly locked.
    • Place the lid onto the bean container.
  4. Position: Place the grinder on a stable, flat, and dry surface.
  5. Plug In: Connect the power cord to a standard 120V AC outlet. The cord can be wound up and stored under the base.

4. Operation

  1. Add Beans: Pour whole coffee beans into the bean container. Do not fill past the MAX line.
  2. Select Grind Setting: Rotate the coarseness adjustment knob to your desired grind level (1-16). Refer to the 'Grind Settings' section for recommendations.
  3. Choose Collection Method:
    • For Collection Container: Ensure the ground coffee collection container is properly seated.
    • For Portafilter: Select the appropriate portafilter holder and place it in the grinding chute. Insert your portafilter into the holder.
  4. Set Grinding Time: Rotate the timed grinding knob to select the desired grinding duration. The grinder can process 2 to 10 cups in a single cycle.
  5. Start Grinding: Press the On/Off button to begin grinding. The grinder will automatically stop once the set time has elapsed.
  6. Manual Grinding (for Portafilter): If using a portafilter, you can press the portafilter against the back of the machine (where a small button is located) to activate grinding manually. This bypasses the timer, allowing you to grind for a specific amount. Release the portafilter to stop.
  7. After Grinding: Remove the collection container or portafilter. Unplug the appliance when finished.
