  • Water Tank: Remove the water tank from the back of the machine. Fill it with fresh, cold drinking water up to the MAX line. Reinsert the tank securely.
  • First Use Flush: Before first use, perform a flush cycle. Place a cup under the group head and turn on the machine. Allow water to flow through until the tank is nearly empty. This primes the system and cleans any manufacturing residues.
  • Accessories: Familiarize yourself with the included accessories: the 1-cup filter, 2-cup filter, and tamper.

  • Bean Hopper: Place the bean hopper securely on top of the grinder. Fill the hopper with whole roasted coffee beans. The hopper has a capacity of 300g.
  • Grind Adjustment: The grinder features a micrometric continuous adjustment system. Turn the adjustment knob (usually located on the top or side) to set your desired grind fineness. For espresso, a very fine grind is typically required.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Making Espresso with Quick Mill 0820

  1. Power On: Ensure the water tank is filled. Plug in the machine and turn on the power switch. The machine will begin to heat up, indicated by a light. The exclusive metal thermoblock with double thermostatic control and safety thermal fuse ensures rapid heating.
  2. Prepare Portafilter: Select either the 1-cup or 2-cup filter basket and insert it into the portafilter.
  3. Dose Coffee: Grind fresh coffee beans using the Eureka grinder (see section 3.2). Fill the filter basket with the appropriate amount of ground coffee.
  4. Tamp Coffee: Use the included tamper to press the ground coffee firmly and evenly into the filter basket. This creates a compact puck for optimal extraction.
  5. Insert Portafilter: Attach the portafilter to the group head of the machine. The fixed-stroke QuickMill portafilter design ensures a secure fit with an O-ring seal.
  6. Brew Espresso: Place your espresso cup(s) under the portafilter spouts. Once the machine reaches operating temperature (indicator light stable), activate the brew switch. Coffee will begin to flow. Stop the brew cycle once the desired volume is reached.
  7. Remove Portafilter: Carefully remove the portafilter after brewing. Discard the used coffee grounds.

3.2 Using the Eureka Mignon Manuale Instant Grinder

  • Grind Adjustment: Turn the micrometric adjustment knob to fine-tune the grind size. Turning clockwise typically makes the grind finer, and counter-clockwise makes it coarser. Experiment to find the ideal setting for your espresso.
  • Grinding: Place your portafilter or a container under the dispensing chute. Activate the grinding mechanism (usually a button or lever). The 50mm flat burrs and 1350 RPM motor ensure efficient grinding.
  • ACE System: The integrated Anti-Clumps & Electrostaticity (ACE) system is designed to prevent clump formation and eliminate electrostatic charge in the ground coffee. This ensures unparalleled cleanliness and high dose stability, crucial for consistent espresso.

3.3 Steam Wand Operation (Quick Mill 0820)

  • Activate Steam: Turn the steam knob to activate the steam function. Allow the machine to heat up to steam temperature. The machine offers unlimited steam dispensing.
  • Frothing Milk: Immerse the steam wand's aerator tip just below the surface of cold milk in a frothing pitcher. Open the steam valve fully. Move the pitcher up and down to incorporate air and create foam. Once desired texture and temperature are reached, close the steam valve.
  • Clean Steam Wand: Immediately after use, wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to remove any milk residue. Briefly open the steam valve to purge any milk from inside the wand.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Quick Mill 0820 Espresso Machine Cleaning

  • Drip Tray: Empty and clean the drip tray regularly. It is removable for easy cleaning.
  • Portafilter and Filter Baskets: After each use, rinse the portafilter and filter baskets under hot water. Remove any coffee grounds.
  • Group Head: Use a damp cloth to wipe the group head area. Periodically, use a group head brush to clean any coffee residue from the screen and gasket.
  • Descaling: Depending on your water hardness, descale the machine every 2-3 months using a suitable descaling solution. Follow the descaling product's instructions carefully.

4.2 Eureka Mignon Manuale Instant Grinder Cleaning

  • Bean Hopper: Empty the bean hopper if you plan to store the grinder for an extended period or change bean types. Wipe it clean with a dry cloth.
  • Burrs: Periodically, clean the grinding burrs. Refer to the Eureka grinder's specific instructions for accessing and cleaning the 50mm flat burrs. Use a brush or vacuum to remove coffee dust and oils.
  • Exterior: Wipe the exterior of both units with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the units in water.
