NEWCARE Optical Audio Splitter 1 in 3 Out

Instruction Manual

1. Introduction

The NEWCARE Optical Audio Splitter 1 in 3 Out is designed to distribute a single optical fiber digital audio signal to three optical/TosLink/SPDIF audio output devices. This allows multiple audio systems or devices to receive audio from a single source simultaneously, such as a TV, game console, or Blu-ray player.

Key features include:

  • 1-in-3-out Splitting: Connects one optical fiber signal input to three optical/TosLink/SPDIF audio output devices.
  • Enhanced Reliability: Features an automatic balance system for lossless signal transmission and ESD electrostatic protection for system security.
  • Wide Compatibility: Supports various devices including Apple TV, Cable boxes, Roku, Xbox, PlayStation, Blu-ray players, Amplifiers, and Sound Bars.
  • Long-Distance Transmission: Supports transmission distances up to 40 meters (130 feet) with optical fiber cables, controlling loss within 0.2dB/m.
  • Supported Audio Formats: Compatible with LPCM2.0, Dolby Digital, and DTS 5.1 audio formats.

3. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your NEWCARE Optical Audio Splitter:

  1. Connect Power: Connect the provided Type C power cable to the DC 5V port on the splitter. Connect the other end of the USB cable to a USB power adapter (not included) or a USB port on your TV/device.
  2. Connect Input Source: Use an optical audio cable to connect the optical audio output from your source device (e.g., TV, PS4, Xbox, Blu-ray player) to the SPDIF INPUT port on the splitter.
  3. Connect Output Devices: Connect up to three optical audio cables from the SPDIF OUTPUT ports (1, 2, 3) on the splitter to the optical audio input ports of your desired audio devices (e.g., soundbar, headphones, AV receiver, amplifier).

The splitter is plug-and-play and does not require any driver installation.

4. Operating Instructions

Once connected, the NEWCARE Optical Audio Splitter operates automatically. It will take the single optical audio input and replicate it to all three output ports simultaneously.

  • Ensure your source device is outputting audio via its optical port.
  • Verify that your connected output devices are set to receive audio from their optical input.
  • The splitter supports LPCM2.0, Dolby Digital, and DTS 5.1 audio formats. Note that 7.1 channel audio cannot be transmitted via fiber optic cable and requires an HDMI cable.

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your NEWCARE Optical Audio Splitter, follow these simple maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the device. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol sprays.
  • Storage: Store the splitter in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Handling: Handle the device and optical cables with care. Avoid bending optical cables sharply, as this can damage the fiber.
  • Power: Disconnect power when the device is not in use for extended periods.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your NEWCARE Optical Audio Splitter, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • No Audio Output:
    • Ensure the Type C power cable is securely connected to the splitter and a working USB power source.
    • Verify that the optical cables are firmly inserted into both the input and output ports of the splitter and your devices. Optical cables have protective caps that must be removed before insertion.
    • Check the audio settings on your source device (TV, console, etc.) to ensure optical audio output is enabled and correctly configured (e.g., PCM, Dolby Digital, DTS).
    • Confirm that your output devices (soundbar, headphones, etc.) are set to the correct optical input.
    • Try using different optical cables to rule out cable defects.
  • Inconsistent or Choppy Audio:
    • This can often be caused by faulty or damaged optical cables. Replace the optical cables to see if the issue resolves.
    • Ensure the power supply is stable and sufficient (5V). An unstable power source can lead to audio interruptions.
  • No Indicator Light:
    • The NEWCARE Optical Audio Splitter does not feature a visible LED indicator light. If you are receiving sound, the device is working correctly.
