5. Installation and Setup

The Heschen HSR1-25 AC Contactor is designed for 35mm DIN rail mounting. Ensure the mounting surface is stable and free from vibrations.

5.1 Mounting on DIN Rail

To mount the contactor, align the top clip with the DIN rail and press down firmly until the bottom clip snaps into place. To remove, pull the bottom clip downwards and lift the contactor off the rail.

5.2 Terminal Connections

Ensure proper wire stripping length and torque for secure connections. Use a manual screwdriver for terminal screws; power drills may overtighten and damage terminals.

6. Wiring and Operation

Refer to the wiring diagram below for correct connection of the AC contactor. The HSR1-25 features two normally closed (NC) poles. The coil terminals are A1 and A2, and the main power terminals are R1, R2, R3, R4.

6.2 Operational Principle

When the coil (A1-A2) is energized with the rated voltage (220V/230VAC), the magnetic field generated causes the normally closed contacts to open, interrupting the circuit. When the coil is de-energized, the contacts return to their normally closed state, completing the circuit. This allows for remote or automatic control of electrical loads.

7. Maintenance

The Heschen HSR1-25 AC Contactor is designed for minimal maintenance. However, periodic checks are recommended:

  • Visual Inspection: Regularly inspect the contactor for any signs of physical damage, discoloration, or loose connections.
  • Terminal Tightness: Periodically check and retighten terminal screws to ensure good electrical contact, especially after initial installation and during routine system checks.
  • Environmental Conditions: Ensure the operating environment remains within specified temperature and humidity limits to prolong the life of the device.
  • Cleaning: If necessary, gently clean the exterior of the contactor with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use liquids or abrasive cleaners.

8. Troubleshooting

If the contactor is not functioning as expected, consider the following common issues:

  • Contactor does not switch:
    • Check if the control voltage (220V/230VAC) is correctly applied to terminals A1 and A2.
    • Verify that the control circuit is complete and there are no breaks in the wiring.
    • Ensure the coil is receiving sufficient voltage within the specified operating range (85%-110% Us).
  • Overheating:
    • Check for loose terminal connections, which can cause resistance and heat.
    • Ensure the load current does not exceed the contactor's rated current (25 Amps).
    • Verify adequate ventilation around the contactor.
  • Unusual Noise:
    • Ensure the contactor is securely mounted on the DIN rail.
    • Check for foreign objects near the moving parts.

If problems persist after checking these points, consult a qualified electrician or contact Heschen customer support.
