4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

  1. Ensure the walkie-talkie is powered off.
  2. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the unit.
  3. Gently slide down or unclip the cover to open the compartment.
  4. Insert 3 AAA batteries into the compartment, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  5. Replace the battery compartment cover and secure it.

Note: Rechargeable AAA batteries can also be used. Always use fresh batteries for optimal performance.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off

  • To power on: Press and hold the Power button (ⓘ) until the LCD screen illuminates.
  • To power off: Press and hold the Power button (ⓘ) until the LCD screen turns off.

5.2 Adjusting Volume

  • Use the Up (▲) and Down (▼) buttons to adjust the listening volume.

5.3 Channel Selection

  1. Press the MENU button once. The channel number on the LCD will flash.
  2. Use the Up (▲) or Down (▼) buttons to select your desired channel (1-22).
  3. Press the MENU button again or wait a few seconds for the selection to be confirmed.

5.4 Setting CTCSS Codes (Sub-codes)

  1. Press the MENU button twice. The CTCSS code number will flash.
  2. Use the Up (▲) or Down (▼) buttons to select your desired CTCSS code (0-99). Setting to 0 disables CTCSS.
  3. Press the MENU button again or wait a few seconds to confirm.

Note: For two walkie-talkies to communicate, they must be set to the same channel and CTCSS code.

5.5 Transmitting (PTT)

  • To speak, press and hold the PTT (Push-To-Talk) button on the side of the walkie-talkie.
  • Speak clearly into the microphone, holding the unit a few inches from your mouth.
  • Release the PTT button when you finish speaking. The word "OVER" is commonly used to indicate the end of your transmission.

5.6 VOX Function (Voice Operated Transmission)

  • To activate VOX: Press the MENU button three times. The VOX icon and sensitivity level will flash.
  • Use the Up (▲) or Down (▼) buttons to select the VOX sensitivity level (1-3, with 3 being most sensitive). Set to OFF to disable VOX.
  • Press the MENU button again or wait to confirm.
  • When VOX is active, the walkie-talkie will automatically transmit when it detects your voice, without needing to press PTT.

5.7 Keypad Lock

  • To lock the keypad: Press and hold the MENU button until a key icon appears on the LCD.
  • To unlock the keypad: Press and hold the MENU button again until the key icon disappears.

5.8 Flashlight

  • To turn on the flashlight: Press the Light button (💡).
  • To turn off the flashlight: Press the Light button (💡) again.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the walkie-talkies with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Storage: Store the walkie-talkies in a cool, dry place when not in use. Remove batteries if storing for extended periods to prevent leakage.
  • Battery Care: Replace all batteries at the same time. Do not mix old and new batteries or different types of batteries.
