3. Setup

3.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove the tuner from its packaging. Retain the packaging materials for future transport or storage.

3.2 Connections

Before making any connections, ensure the unit and all connected components are powered off and unplugged from the AC outlet.

  • FM Antenna Connection: Connect an external FM antenna to the FM ANTENNA input terminal. For optimal FM reception, a proper outdoor antenna is recommended.
  • AM Antenna Connection: Connect the supplied AM loop antenna to the AM ANTENNA input terminals. Position the loop antenna away from the main unit and other electronic devices for best reception.
  • Audio Output Connection: Connect the AUDIO OUT terminals of the T-425AT to an available audio input (e.g., "Tuner" or "Aux") on your amplifier or receiver using RCA audio cables.
  • AC Power Connection: After all other connections are made, plug the unit's power cord into a suitable AC outlet.
  • AC Outlets (Switched): The unit features 3 switched AC outlets. You can connect other audio components to these outlets. Their power will turn ON/OFF in conjunction with the T-425AT's power switch. Ensure the total power consumption of connected devices does not exceed the specified limit.

4. Operating Instructions

4.6 Timer Functions

The unit is equipped with four weekly timer systems: Weekday, Weekend, One-shot, and Sleep. These timers enable functions such as alarm playback and unattended recording.

  • Weekday/Weekend Timer: Set the unit to turn ON/OFF at specific times on weekdays or weekends. Useful for daily listening or recording schedules.
  • One-shot Timer: A single-event timer for a specific ON/OFF time.
  • Sleep Timer: Set the unit to automatically turn OFF after a specified duration, allowing you to fall asleep to music.

Refer to the full instruction manual for detailed programming steps for each timer function.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning the Unit

To clean the exterior of the unit, use a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water or a mild, non-abrasive cleaner. Do not use strong chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaning pads, as these can damage the finish.

  • Always unplug the unit from the AC outlet before cleaning.
  • Do not spray cleaning liquids directly onto the unit.

5.2 Storage

If you plan to store the unit for an extended period, disconnect it from the power supply and all connected components. Store it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. It is recommended to use the original packaging for protection.

6. Troubleshooting

If you experience problems with your ONKYO Integra T-425AT, please consult the following table before contacting service personnel.

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No powerPower cord not securely plugged in.Check power cord connection to the unit and AC outlet.
No sound
  • Audio cables not connected correctly.
  • Amplifier/receiver input not selected correctly.
  • Volume on amplifier/receiver is too low.
  • Ensure audio cables are firmly connected to both the tuner and amplifier.
  • Select the correct input on your amplifier/receiver.
  • Increase the volume on your amplifier/receiver.
Poor FM reception / Static
  • Antenna not connected or poorly positioned.
  • Weak signal.
  • Interference from other electronic devices.
  • Connect or reposition the FM antenna for better signal.
  • Consider using a higher-gain outdoor antenna.
  • Move the tuner away from other electronics.
Poor AM reception / No AM reception
  • AM loop antenna not connected or poorly positioned.
  • Strong local interference.
  • Internal component issue (as noted in some user reviews).
  • Connect and carefully position the AM loop antenna away from the main unit and other electronics.
  • Try rotating the AM loop antenna for better signal.
  • If AM reception remains problematic despite proper antenna connection and positioning, and other functions work, it may indicate a specific issue with the AM tuner section. Contact customer support if this persists.
Timer not workingTimer not set correctly.Review the timer setting instructions in the manual and ensure all parameters (time, day, ON/OFF) are correctly configured.
