7. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your machine.
7.1 Daily Cleaning
- Drip Tray: Empty and rinse the drip tray daily. It can be removed for easy cleaning.
- Capsule Container: Empty the used capsule container when full (holds approximately 10-12 capsules) and rinse it.
- Water Tank: Empty any remaining water from the tank and refill with fresh water daily. Clean the tank periodically with mild soap and water.
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the machine in water.
7.2 Descaling
Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) can build up in your machine, affecting performance and coffee taste. Descale your machine every 3-6 months, or more frequently if you have hard water.
- Empty the water tank and used capsule container.
- Fill the water tank with a descaling solution (follow the descaling solution manufacturer's instructions for dilution) or a mixture of white vinegar and water (1:1 ratio).
- Place a large container (at least 20 oz) under the coffee spout.
- Power on the machine. Once preheated, press the lungo button repeatedly until the entire descaling solution has passed through the machine.
- Rinse the water tank thoroughly and fill it with fresh water.
- Repeat the flushing process with fresh water 2-3 times to remove any residual descaling solution.
Note: Do not use descaling solutions that are not specifically designed for coffee machines, as they may damage the internal components.
