2. Safety Information

Please read all instructions carefully before installation and operation. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in damage to the product, vehicle, or personal injury.

  • Ensure the vehicle's power is disconnected before performing any wiring or installation.
  • Verify the correct voltage (12V/24V) of your electrical system before connecting the gauge.
  • Use appropriate wire gauges and connectors for all electrical connections.
  • Avoid exposing the gauge to extreme temperatures or harsh chemicals.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the gauge, as this will void the warranty.

3. Package Contents

Upon opening the package, please verify that all the following items are included:

  • SAMDO Digital Fuel Level Gauge (1 unit)
  • Wiring Harness (1 unit)
  • Rubber Plug/Gasket (1 unit)
  • Mounting Ring/Nut (1 unit)
  • User Manual (This document)

4. Installation

4.1 Mounting the Gauge

  1. Choose a suitable location on your dashboard or panel for installation.
  2. Cut a circular hole with a diameter of 52mm (2.05 inches) in the chosen panel.
  3. Insert the gauge into the hole.
  4. Secure the gauge from the back using the provided mounting ring and nut. Ensure the rubber gasket is properly seated for a watertight seal.

4.2 Wiring Connections

Refer to the wiring diagram below for proper connection. Ensure all connections are secure and insulated to prevent short circuits.

  • Red Wire: Connect to +9~32VDC power supply (positive battery terminal or ignition switch).
  • Black Wire: Connect to Signal Input from the fuel level sensor.
  • Orange Wire: Connect to Backlight power (+). This can be connected to the same +9~32VDC as the red wire or to a separate switched power source for backlight control.
  • Blue Wire: Connect to Ground (-) (negative battery terminal or chassis ground).

5. Setup and Calibration

The SAMDO Digital Fuel Level Gauge requires calibration to match the resistance range of your specific fuel level sender unit. This process ensures accurate readings.

5.1 Signal Range Adjustment (Calibration)

This gauge supports multiple signal input ranges. You must set the gauge to match your fuel sender's resistance range.

  1. Identify your sender's resistance range: Consult your vehicle's manual or use a multimeter to measure the resistance of your fuel sender when the tank is empty and full. Common ranges include 0-190ohm, 240-33ohm, 240-30ohm, 0-180ohm, and 10-180ohm.
  2. Enter Setup Mode: With the gauge powered on, press and hold the 'Mode' button (located on the back of the gauge) for approximately 3 seconds. The backlight will begin to flash, indicating that the gauge is in setup mode.
  3. Select Resistance Range: While in setup mode (backlight flashing), press and release the 'Mode' button repeatedly. Each press will cycle through the available resistance ranges, indicated by the needle pointing to a specific mark on the gauge face (refer to the gauge's included instructions for specific needle positions corresponding to each ohm range).
  4. Confirm Selection: Once the needle points to the mark corresponding to your sender's resistance range, stop pressing the button. The gauge will automatically save the setting after a few seconds of inactivity in setup mode.
  5. Exit Setup Mode: Power down the unit (turn off ignition) and then power it back on. The new setting will be applied.

5.2 Backlight Color Adjustment

The gauge features a 7-color adjustable backlight.

  1. With the gauge powered on (not in setup mode), press and release the 'Mode' button briefly.
  2. Each brief press will cycle through the available backlight colors. Select your preferred color.
  3. The gauge will automatically save the selected backlight color.

6. Operation

Once installed and calibrated, the SAMDO Digital Fuel Level Gauge will continuously display the current fuel level in your tank. The needle will move smoothly to indicate the level from 'E' (Empty) to 'F' (Full).

The selected backlight color will illuminate the gauge face for clear visibility in various lighting conditions.

7. Maintenance

The SAMDO Digital Fuel Level Gauge is designed for durability and requires minimal maintenance.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the gauge face with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Connections: Periodically check all wiring connections to ensure they remain secure and free from corrosion.
  • Waterproof Feature: The gauge is 100% waterproof. However, ensure the mounting area is properly sealed during installation to maintain this integrity.

8. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Gauge does not power on.No power to red wire; faulty ground connection; blown fuse.Check power supply to red wire (+9~32VDC). Verify blue wire is securely grounded. Check vehicle's fuse box.
Gauge reads inaccurately or fluctuates.Incorrect signal range setting; faulty fuel sender; loose signal wire connection.Recalibrate the signal range (refer to Section 5.1). Test the fuel sender unit. Ensure black signal wire is securely connected.
Backlight does not work.No power to orange wire; faulty orange wire connection.Check power supply to orange wire. Ensure orange wire is securely connected.
Needle moves randomly or flashes.Interference; incorrect calibration; internal fault.Ensure proper grounding and shielded wiring if interference is suspected. Re-perform signal range calibration. If problem persists, contact support.
