3. Setup

  1. Charge the Device: Ensure the S5 Mini is fully charged. It requires 1 Lithium Ion battery (included). Connect the charging cable to the device and a power source.
  2. Prepare Your Workspace: Choose a clean, well-lit, and stable flat surface for lens insertion. Ensure you have all necessary supplies, including your contact lenses, saline solution, and any prescribed eye drops.
  3. Secure the S5 Mini: Place the S5 Mini on your chosen flat surface. Press down firmly on the device while pushing the Base Lever down to engage the suction base, securing it in place.
  4. Wash Your Hands: Always wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water and dry them with a lint-free towel before handling your contact lenses or the S5 Mini.
  5. Activate the LED Light: Turn on the S5 Mini's LED light. This light will serve as your focal point during insertion.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Lens Insertion

  1. Place the Lens: Carefully place your scleral or hybrid contact lens onto the Lens Holder of the S5 Mini. Ensure the lens is correctly oriented (cup-side up).
  2. Fill with Saline: Fill the bowl of the contact lens with preservative-free saline solution. Fill it completely to prevent air bubbles during insertion.
  3. Position Yourself: Lean over the S5 Mini, bringing your head close to the device. Use both hands to hold your eyelids wide open, ensuring your eyelashes are out of the way. This hands-free stabilization is crucial to prevent blinking and provide a clear path for the lens.
  4. Focus on the LED: Look directly at the LED light target within the lens. Maintain your focus on this light as you slowly lower your head towards the lens.
  5. Gentle Contact: Continue lowering your head until the lens gently makes contact with your eye. The saline solution will help the lens adhere.
  6. Release Eyelids: Once the lens is securely on your eye, slowly release your eyelids. Blink gently to settle the lens.

4.2. Lens Removal

The S5 Mini is primarily designed for lens insertion. For safe removal of scleral or hybrid contact lenses, follow the instructions provided by your eye care professional. General best practices for contact lens removal include:

  • Always wash and dry your hands thoroughly before touching your eyes or lenses.
  • Use a clean, soft, lint-free cloth or tissue to gently dry your fingers.
  • Look straight ahead into a mirror.
  • Using the pad of your index finger, gently pull down your lower eyelid.
  • Using the pad of your thumb and index finger, gently pinch the lens at the bottom edge and lift it off your eye.
  • If you experience difficulty, apply a few drops of rewetting solution to lubricate the eye and lens before attempting removal again.

5. Maintenance

  1. Cleaning the S5 Mini: After each use, gently wipe the Lens Holder and any parts that came into contact with your lens or saline solution with a clean, lint-free cloth or an alcohol prep pad. Ensure no residue remains.
  2. Storage: Store the S5 Mini in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Keep it in its original packaging or a protective case when not in use.
  3. Battery Care: Recharge the device as needed. Avoid overcharging or completely draining the battery to prolong its lifespan.
  4. Regular Inspection: Periodically inspect the device for any signs of wear, damage, or debris. If any damage is observed, discontinue use and contact customer support.

6. Troubleshooting
