3. Setup and Initial Operation
3.1 Winding the Watch
Your Orient RA-AK0403N10B is an automatic watch, meaning it is powered by the motion of your wrist. However, for initial setup or if the watch has stopped, it can be manually wound:
- Ensure the crown is in the fully pushed-in position (Position 0).
- Rotate the crown clockwise approximately 30-40 times. This will provide enough power reserve to start the watch.
- The watch will also wind automatically with normal wrist movement once worn.
3.2 Setting the Time
- Unscrew the crown (if it's a screw-down crown) by turning it counter-clockwise.
- Pull the crown out to Position 2 (the outermost position). The second hand will stop (hacking feature).
- Turn the crown to move the hour and minute hands clockwise until the correct time is displayed. Ensure to pass 12 o'clock to set the correct AM/PM.
- Once the time is set, push the crown back into Position 0 and screw it down securely to maintain water resistance.
3.3 Setting the Day and Date
The watch features a 24-hour indicator, day indicator, and date indicator.
- Unscrew the crown (if applicable) and pull it out to Position 1 (the first click).
- Turn the crown clockwise to adjust the date.
- Turn the crown counter-clockwise to adjust the day of the week.
- Important: Avoid setting the date and day between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM, as this can damage the movement. If you need to set the date/day during this period, first set the time outside this range (e.g., to 6:00 AM), adjust the date/day, then reset the time to the current time.
- Once the day and date are set, push the crown back into Position 0 and screw it down securely.
4. Operating Your Watch
4.1 Water Resistance
This watch has a water resistance of 100 meters (330 feet). This rating makes it suitable for swimming and snorkeling, but it is not recommended for scuba diving. Always ensure the crown is fully screwed down before any contact with water.
4.2 Luminous Markers
The hands and hour markers are treated with luminous material to provide visibility in low-light conditions. Exposure to light will charge these markers, allowing them to glow in the dark.
5. Care and Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the watch case and crystal with a soft, dry cloth. For the nylon strap, a mild soap solution and soft brush can be used, followed by thorough rinsing and air drying.
- Avoid Extreme Temperatures: Do not expose your watch to extreme temperatures (above 60°C / 140°F or below 0°C / 32°F) or sudden temperature changes.
- Avoid Chemicals: Keep the watch away from solvents, detergents, perfumes, and cosmetics, as these can damage the case, strap, or gaskets.
- Magnetic Fields: Avoid exposing the watch to strong magnetic fields (e.g., from speakers, refrigerators, or mobile phones) as this can affect the accuracy of the mechanical movement.
- Service: It is recommended to have your automatic watch serviced by an authorized service center every 3-5 years to ensure proper functioning and water resistance.

| Watch stops or runs inaccurately. | Insufficient power reserve. | Manually wind the watch by turning the crown clockwise 30-40 times. Wear the watch regularly to keep it wound. |
| Date/Day does not change at midnight. | Time is set to AM instead of PM, or vice-versa. | Advance the time by 12 hours. Ensure the date/day changes around midnight. |
