2. Important Notes and Safety Warnings

• Neutral Wire Required: Installation requires a neutral wire. If your house was built or remodeled before the mid-1980s, you may not have a neutral wire. Consult a qualified electrician if unsure.
• Wi-Fi Compatibility: This smart switch only supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks. It does NOT support 5 GHz Wi-Fi.
• Wi-Fi Network Name: Ensure your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) contains only letters and numbers. Special symbols (e.g., hyphens) are not allowed.
• Switch Type: This is a ONE-way switch only. It does NOT support 2-way, 3-way, or multi-way switch configurations.
• Dimmer Functionality: This switch is NOT a dimmer switch and cannot be used to control dimmable lights.
• The product has passed FCC and ETL certification, ensuring safety and quality.
• Incorrect wiring or a missing neutral wire will prevent the switch from functioning correctly.

3. Installation Guide

3.1. Pre-Installation Checklist

• Confirm the presence of a neutral wire in your electrical box.
• Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4 GHz.
• Turn off power at the circuit breaker before beginning any electrical work.

3.2. Wiring Instructions

The KKCOOL Smart Switch requires a Neutral + Live wire power supply. Refer to the wiring diagram on the back of the switch and the provided instructions for proper connection. It is highly recommended to consult a qualified electrician for installation if you are not familiar with electrical wiring.

The package includes three separate switches and one 3-gang wall plate. The wall plate can be found at the bottom of the package box. If any accessories are missing or the package is defective, please contact customer support with a photo for a free replacement.

4. App Setup and Remote Control

4.1. Downloading the App

1. Download the “Smart life” application from the App Store (for iOS devices) or Google Play Store (for Android devices).

4.2. Connecting to Wi-Fi

2. Connect your mobile device to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
3. Launch the “Smart life” app and follow the on-screen instructions to add a new device.

5.1. Pairing with Amazon Alexa

1. Open the Amazon Alexa app.
2. Navigate to “Skills” or “Skills & Games”.
3. Search for the “Smart Life” skill.
4. Click “Enable” or “Enable To Use”.
5. Log into your Smart Life account and click “Link now” to authorize the connection.
6. Discover devices (Alexa will usually do this automatically, or you can say “Alexa, discover my devices”).

5.2. Pairing with Google Assistant

1. Open the Google Home app.
2. Find “Home Control” or “Works with Google”.
3. Click “add a device” (the plus icon).
4. Search for “Smart Life”.

Q1: Does this work with Apple HomeKit?

A1: No, the KKCOOL Smart Switch is not compatible with Apple HomeKit. However, it is fully compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and IFTTT.

Q2: The touch option on the wall plate no longer works, but I can still control it with Alexa or the app. How can I fix this?

A2: This issue is typically caused by a firmware update. You need to upgrade the firmware to the latest version. Alternatively, you can remove the switch from the Smart Life app and then re-add it back to the app. This often resolves connectivity and touch response issues.

General Troubleshooting Tips:

• If the indicator light is not flashing quickly during setup, long-press the ON/OFF button on the middle of the switch until it flashes rapidly, then attempt setup again.
• Ensure your Wi-Fi router is broadcasting a 2.4 GHz signal and your mobile device is connected to it during setup.
• Verify that the neutral wire is correctly connected. Incorrect wiring is a common cause of non-functionality.
